• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Check Your Rear Brake Reservoir Cap

Just a heads-up to you Terra/Strada guys. Our Terra lost its reservoir cap on a dual-sport ride. No big deal because the bladder stayed in place and no fluid was lost. So, as a temporary measure, I borrowed the cap from the Strada we have so I could continue riding.

But the cap on the Strada was barely finger tight.

It's worth a quick check, y'all.

Thanks for the heads up. Never hurts to check these things which can go easily unnoticed. I had the shop I bought my bike from install the OEM handguards for me. I went riding last weekend and noticed that one of the bolts holding the guard onto the bar end had started unwinding. Stupid BMW/Husqvarna use Torx for every bolt on the bike but a 5mm hex screw on the bar end with the guards, so guess who didn't realise this and was only carrying a torx kit**************************************** Without the tool I couldn't screw it in or out, so I wasn't sure how much I could let it go. As it turned out, there was heaps of unscrewing required before it would be lost, but I rode 50km with my little finger over the bar end holding it in just to be sure until I got to the next town and found a mechanic.

It surely is plastic that reservoir so mild lock-tight solution will not work, right ? I use lock-tight for every screw I do on my bike, be it original factory I unscrewed or aftermarket parts.

I hate that !!! I used to carry both torx and hex tools with my F800GS. Got so much annoyed I started to replace Torx screws with hex every time I did something on the bike (windshield, brakes, protection parts). I even got engry enough to consider complete torx-->hex switch (there are complete hex sets for F800Gs available aftermarket).
