• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Chest/back protection for casual dual sport riding.

Hi guys, as I am getting a little more serious into riding off road, I was looking for suggestions for some chest/back protection. I want something for under a shirt that is somewhat inconspicuous, or can be ridden with just a underarmor type under it in the heat.
I dont ride super fast, more on the technical side, but it still hurts when you go down, especially on a rock, log, ect. And I am not as young as I used to be!

Criteria I am looking for

-price < $150
-low profile under shirt preferably
-easy to take off
-breathable
-some shoulder protection

I was looking at the fox titan, both the full sleeved and the sleeveless. I like the zip up design.
Or the Thor Impact rig.

Thanks,
J

Check out the AXO air cage pro. I've been through Fox, Alpinestars, and EVS body armor and the AXO is the best fitting, most comfortable of any I've owned or tried on.

hmm that looks nice, thanks for the heads up. A little more then I wanted to spend but if there is anything worth spending a little extra money on its gear. I have always been a big atgatt guy when it comes to the street, so it only makes sense to do the same off road.

wow thats pretty slick, love the versatility. Could wear minimal for just scooting around then full for more serious stuff.
I like that.

Go for the Leatt full upper body protection. Mesh, Zips up, kidney belt that is adjustable, front and rear back protection that can be removed, shoulder, elbow, forearm protection is A+, oh and if you want to wear a Leatt neck protection you can remove two small plastic parts and the brace fits perfect. Much better fit than the Fox or Alpine Star. Cost ??? muck less than the ER!

Thanks everyone I appreciate the suggestions.

I think I am leaning towards the TLD. I like the versatility, and how easy it is to take on and off. I think I am leaning away from a mesh "jacket" type protector for that reason.

I found trying them on can help you make up your mind. Some are a little more comfortable. I have a suit but prefer to ride in a jacket with armor.
