• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

comfy seat?!

hey everyone,
i am a new proud owner of an 07 510 SMR. i love EVERYTHING about it....except for the seat. its comparible to a 2x4. is there a better butt pad for this bike out there? i think you will all agree to some extent that after a half hour on this seat you get some numbness in your hind quarter.

also my engine is coverd in oil residue. just the case, the jug and head is clean. if its dripping oil anywhere i cant tell. i read in another post that the o-ring seal for the starter is tempermental. so my plan of attack is to put some high heat silicone on the o-ring, and throw a wrench on all the engine case bolts. does anyone have any suggestions on either of my questions?

any information you provide is greatly appreciated.
thanks

One of the sponsors of this forum makes seats that everyone likes.

Renazco also does a really nice job. Some people have had good luck with Corbin but most reports aren't as favorable as XPC and Renazco.

I have a Ed's Moto seat on my TE 610 and it is much better than stock, but probably not as tolerable as Renazco. http://www.mredsmoto.com/aboutus.htm
Without making the seat wider and taking away from off roadness I think there is only so much that can be done. The seats with a butt bucket built onto them don't quite look right to me on an off road or SMR bike. Just my .02

I also have MrEds custom seat and while the butt bucket looks a bit strange it make the 610 a perfectly tolerable all day bike. It does take away some of the off road maneuverability, but that is why I have a WR300 now :-) Until MrEds did my seat I really doubted that the cost would be worth it, but I was wrong. Best $400 I've ever spent on a bike.

No doubt a Renazco is a nice seat but if you can find a local seat builder the customization could get you that extra little bit of personalization.

One alternative to the expensive seat rebuilds is the sweet cheeks seat expander. I use this and it works great. You can ride all day down the hwy and when it's time to hit the dirt you just remove it.
I would still like to get a custom seat just because they look a lot cleaner but honestly this little gadget does a great job.

I probably would have considered a real comfy seat like yours if a long range tank had ever come about for the FI bikes. As it is, I don't know how long the 610 will remain in my stable.

I discovered that the most comfortable seat is one that I do not spend a lot of time sitting on. I replace the pegs and get the bars at the right height.

Hmm.... The guy asking is riding an SMR so that would be a silly way to ride around on the street :D

I am also looking for a taller seat wider to the back and more padding for my lazy backside on a Wr 300, here in NSW AUSTRALIA. I am only aware of a place in Melbourne VICTORIA . Does anyone know of a place in NSW AUST

Seat Concepts.....10% discount to Cafe Husky members.......I sent mine in for them to do. 2-days later....it was back on the bike. :D Mine is the lowered seat....very comfy.

Are you talking about ACM seats in Victoria? They are one of the very few mobs that do this well. I am looking at getting one of my seats done and he looks like an option (im in NSW). Have you found anyone else?
Airhawke seats have some good reviews but they are not a modified seat but more of an add on cushion.
