• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey guys, just wondering what you bring with you as far as tools and maybe replacement parts when you go out riding? I know some of you don't bring much, but others bring half the garage with you. What do you consider important for "On Hill Surgery" tools?

Cheers! :busted:

There is a few wraps of safety wire, same of Duct Tape in there and added a small 2 blade screwdrver. Maybe carry a roll of Rescue Tape in my pack. The fender bag and tube/irons I have not been taking on short rides.

I cut an arm off an old wetsuit and stuff the roll in there with the Blackburn pump and it sits at the very bottom of my backpack/daypack.

I carry the little motion pro kit in my hydro pack. I also have a larger tool roll like the OP's set up, but I rarely take it with when riding locally.

Only difference now is I don't carry the deep spark plug socket and I added an allen wrench for the Lectron carb screws.

I keep a 2 stroke wrench/plug in my bag also. I haven't needed it myself but a guy I was riding with last weekend fouled a plug and he didn't carry any tools or a plug at all.

I bought a kit from trailtoolz of course it still needs some Husky personalization but it's quite complete.

I don't carry these things on the trail, but I do usually have them in the truck for my TXC 250. Haven't needed them yet, but that's the point right? Threaten the bike with spare parts and it behaves...don't have them and it gets cranky. :)

Fuses
Temp Sensor
Spare Relay

And the other aforementioned tools.
