• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Congratulations Andy !

I guess he's a bit shy.
But well done Andy Elliot (HVA-Factory) for winning the Experts ACU British Twinshock Enduro Championship aboard his rather special 300WR. :applause:

If we are lucky he may post some pictures of the beast.

Thanks Ian!

Well done to all the riders who supported this years championship, and with next years champs also including a class for Evo bikes (to 1989) hopefully 'Vinduro' in the UK will grow to be like the vintage MX scene.

Congratulations too to Paul Noble who won the Clubmans class on a Wr400 lc - Husky twinshock.

I will do a little bit on the 300 as a separate thread. It is after all the best bike that Husky never made!!!

looks like the key to the WR300 is no ignition cover from the picture.

Keeps the ignition dryer that way with the air rushing by.

Just teasing

Yes, please share the details on turning the 250 into a 300! I love the perforated gas tank wrap, didn't even notice at first that they were not stock tanks. If I owned a milk truck, I'd want some too.

Well done Andy, like those metal strips round the mudguard rubbers simple but effective. Keep up the good work. Not much room left at the inn for the old four bangor any more then.

Heres a guess:430 crank{74mm} in an overbored 250 cylinder at 71mm 292cc.At 72mm 301cc. Formula in inches:Bore X Bore X Stroke X 0.7854 X # of cylinders. To do it with factory parts, you would need to make a barrel spacer like UpTite George @4.75mm or a 4.75mm shorter connecting rod or shorter piston,be sure that bottom of piston clears crankshaft wheels at BDC .This doesnt consider the change in port timing either.

Thanks for all the Thanks!

I will try and get some pictures together to explain what I have done to make these, but I am waiting for some parts to arrive - before I can give you pics that make any sense. They are some weeks away.

Most of what I have done is fairly straight forward, so anyone could do it.

Andy.

British vinduros are still run on the open courses? same as the modern bikes? is that right? Tough b*stards

Hi Andy,
Do you still have plans to let us know how you made the WR300, there are still people waiting for the details.
Cheers 2T_vs_4T.

I am making a photographic reference library for this at the moment. Also, I am having a drawing done for the Flywheels. Also, I have just ordered the material to make special alloy liners for the barrels - prior to Nikasil coating!

We went testing again yesterday on an indoor supercross track to test pipes and clutches. I may decide to do this feature via VMX or Classic Dirt Bike, as it will run to several pages!!!

Keep you posted.

Andy Elliott.
