• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Coolant Question

Husqvarna
AA Class
I noticed that the coolant level in my overflow tank was a little below the minimum line, so I was going to add some. I was under the impression that the 610 takes blue coolant, so I picked some up at the local BMW dealership. But when I went to top it off, I realized that the coolant that's in the bike is green, not blue, so I didn't add any because I know that you can't mix coolant colors. I bought the bike new and haven't changed the coolant yet, so the coolant that's in it is what it came with. So do the rest of you 610 owners have green coolant or blue? Should I just add some green, or should I flush it and go blue, or does it even matter which kind I use?

My 08 came with blue coolant. When I changed it I put in Engine Ice, which is also blue in color.

The color does not matter. You can mix different coolants as long as they are the same ethylene glycol base. It even says so on the containers. Probably all coolants used from the factory are ethylene glycol based. Some guys change to propylene glycol. If in doubt, flush it out and buy a big jug of Prestone and dilute with 30% distilled water. It will cool a little better than the 50/50 blend. I add Water Wetter also. All available at Autozone or O'reilly.

My coolant was blue, probably AGIP brand which no one has anyway. Did you buy a used bike? If so, your green coolant could be Maxima Coolanol, a popular 50/50 blend which is sold at Cycle Gear and most other motorcycle parts dealers (Dennis Kirk, Rockymountainatv, MC Superstore etc)
