• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Uh... NO!

Basically with the level of honesty and integrity of some people these days simply DO NOT DO ANYTHING unless they want to come over in person and pay in cash. Sucks people have sunk to this low and we can no longer take each other for face value nor expect people to be honest and decent. It is sad the level of respect and honesty people seem to lack these days. I am only 47 but have seen a lot of change in how people respect each other in the last 20 years. Makes me sad.

BTW I got scammed and ripped of for $6500 a few month ago and am still recovering from it. This crap is upsetting. What level of people are out there these days? Where are we headed? Seems if I deal with people whom are older I have no issues. Most of them fought in wars, made sacrifices, were raised with real parents that cared, know family values, can do business with a a handshake that is stronger than a contract. I miss those days.

I have tried real hard to raise my kids right and have very good kids but i still see a ton of this crap in them as it is everywhere. Gimmy mentality and lack of respect is rampant. I have long interesting conversations about politics and people with my machinist whom is 10 years older than me. He is a smart dude and comes from a strong family. All this crap going on today in politics and with people in general has us both upset. I thin, he absolutely nailed it on the head the other day and managed to boil it down to one specific thing. Respect. Seems a lost art. When you are respectful you can do handshake deals, you can do business without scams, the can deal honestly with others.

My parents met in 3rd grade in a small town. They are now 77 years old and still happy as a clam. Raise us three kids to be very respectful, I always did exactly as my dad said and never talked back or I would have to pick myself up off the floor. Never had to hear racism in my house so I am not. Never saw my dad scam anyone so this was not my thought process. I am super thankful that they raised me like they did and need to tell them more.

Sorry about the rant, just saddened by the society we live in where it is common and almost fun for people to crap on others instead of support and make everyone better. I know there are great people out there still, i deal with some of them every day. I would be lying though to say the current generation coming up does not scare me.

OK, sorry. Watch for scammers. thanks.

There was a hillarious thread on avdrider where some guy kept leading the scammers on and on and on. He basically acted like he was falling for thier scam but at the last minute would change it on them and ask them more info and how to login to his bank account as he forgot etc. You should do the same-lol

I think I saw some of that. I don't have time to waist on these low forms of life but find that very funny.

It is a sad state. I recently tried to sell a CRF on craigslist and got 3-4 scam replies to every 1 legit reply. One guy was in the navy and on a ship currently and even offered to pay more than what I was asking. Just a bunch of lowlifes.

Kelly,
I'll take whatever you got. Please PM me your full SS#, bank account # and major CC#. Once I receive these items and can verify they are correct I will purchase in cash.

Your welcome in advance.
Sincerely,

I used to get letters from some Nigerians asking for me the "El Presidente'" to open a joint bank account with the sender so they could transfer $1,000,000.00 in to the US and would give me 10% for my trouble.

I wonder if anyone has thought to set up an item for sale and then run a check for outstanding warrants on the guy who comes to pick up the vehicle. If he works for the scammers chances are he has a record and might be wanted.

Yes it is getting like that. Hec Iv'e seen special cats that are supposed to be free, but they are in another state and the pics show them in 3 different houses!! If you can not talk to someone and can not view it in person or as the saying goes if it looks to good to be true, it probably is! Losers praying on people. Hate it. Charma comes back and I hear Hell is a pretty warm place!

One of sneakiest things i ever saw was someone embedded thier own software on ebay on a phony storefont link to a product i clicked on. It asked me to re log on to ebay and once i did the website address i noticed resembled ebay but wasnt. So of course they had my login at that point. Be carefull out there.

we got scammed a cpl years ago when i bought one of the chineese 4wheelers over the phone from texas from a internet buisness, im not the only one quite a few got scammed aswell. beware of people not wanting to take a credit card over the phone if they claim to be a buisness. i never seen any of the money but enough people got screw that the texas attourney generals shut them down and seized all assets.

I've seen a few of those personally and ignored them. But I'm confused, why the demand for PayPal info? Can they hijack your PayPal account that way? I've paid people before via PayPal cash transfer (so far always legit), but this kinda worries me.

I got scammed out of a $2700.00 Gibson guitar on Ebay 2 years ago. Funny thing was, Paypal and UPS (I insured the shipping) sided with the scammer. It was an expensive lesson, but I'm better for it.

I tried to sell an expensive Gibson a couple of years ago on E-bay. I had so many wackos respond to the ad, and no bids so I withdrew the ad early.

I've had scammers try the iffy cashier check on Friday after the banks are closed routine when I was selling vehicles. When I buy used I only buy in person and I only take green cash when I sell.

I deal with that crap all the time. Their getting smarter and smarter and making it harder to tell who's lagit and who's not. Damn craigslist. Gota love it, gota hate it.

At the end of the day. It's all about common sense. If it's too good to be true, then it's a scam. Come on, people don't over pay for products and most people don't buy stuff sight unseen. My first rule when buying or selling is to get a phone number and talk to a live person. If a guy won't call on the phone then it's a scam. Just my 2 cents.

while talking to someone helps its not 100%, some people are just scumbags out of the gate

that was the point of this thread. I long for the day when people treated people honestly and this crap would not fly. Now it seems the norm. Lots of good people left but also a pile of A-holes.

This is 100%

1. Meet the person in your town on a business day while the banks are open

2. Go to the bank together and have buyer deposit green cash in your bank account

3. Have bank employee notarize title and go your separate ways.

Cashiers checks can be bogus, counterfeit green cash is possible and it digresses from there in to all kinds of possible ways to get robbed. It's kind of sad and makes you wish for the old west days when at least robbers had to have the courage to hold you at gun point face to face.
