I saw something similar done by a guy changing springs on Harley shocks. I needed something NOW, so this is what I came up with.Crude, but very effective. 20 mins of fabrication. I only needed to compress the spring about 1 1/2 inchs to change the spring so this worked perfectly.
The base has a hole for the top shock mount and a cut out for the reservoir. the top plate has a hole big enough for the spring to go through, then 2 holes drilled through from the side to accommodate 1/4 inch steel rod which holds the spring. Obviously threaded rod on each side to screw down and compress the spring.
