    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Dash lights (all) gone out and back on again...?

After 18 months of not riding my TR650, I jumped on it for a ride (it was a bit hard to start but all looked ok) and took off, next minute all the dash lights (it was night) went out and the indicators would not work. I stopped, pushed the kill switch and restarted the motor and they came back on only to go off a minute later, did the same thing again and again the same thing happened, but they did not come on as I was riding. After I stopped, and stopped the motor and turned the ignition off and back on the lights came on. Head, tail and brake lights are all ok.

The last time I rode it, I recall the backlight fluctuating with the motor running.

Perhaps I have a lose/poor connection somewhere..?

I will swap out the LiFe battery I am using as the same battery in my Caponord messed up my ABS system.

Anyone had a similar problem..?
 
mine had a similar behaviour when the voltage regulator went bad and the GS911 showed an overvoltage error. New regulator fixed it.
 
I chucked out the LiFe battery and put an old Leady back in, a quick ride around the block and its was solid, so it seems like the LiFe battery doing weird stuff at this stage.

As the OEM is an AGM type...
Lots of issues with the LI/FE types. I junked the car replacement batt back to a lead acid after similar troubles.
 
I put a new Power Road in (that's been in my Caponord and going ok) and rode 400km without an issue.

I used MotorSCAN diag on it and there's an error showing "High voltage", so it was the battery.
 
Hi kiwiape, just curious, what brand and how long was the LI/Fe in the bike? Did you measured the voltage on the bench? A cheap BMS im guessin
 
Yer know, With a lithium battery on the bench you cant use a standard lead/gel charger.
What make yous think the bike is any different?

The Tattu can be charged on a PB setting and I have done it no problem as they have a BMS in them and that battery worked fine for a number of years. The Power Road is designed to be used in Bikes and it seems just fine and there is no instruction with it for or against various charging types. The Tattu went bad, it what the do when they go bad that is different to PB's that we are learning about...all batteries go bad a some stage.
