• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

DC Plastic?

Has anyone had experience with DC plastic?
Is it Junk or worth the money to buy a plastic kit for my 87 430.

I only have use for one Trailer Queen (see avitar) and plan on riding the wheels off this one, but did want it to look good for it's one and only photo shoot. Does it hold up to the abuse?

DC plastic, is some times all over the place, I've got 81 rear number plate on my 80 390CR, & there pretty close to fitting right, NO holes drilled in them, when they came. They cracked after 3 (years)tough racing seasons, though they still look presentable.

But i've heard other some of the Non- Husky stuff was crap? Honda color
Not even close to the red/orange color that's stock & didn't fit right at all. I bought the kit for a KTM 495 i had & it looked good & fit decent, so You'll probably be fine with the 87 ones.

DC now has two colors of red. Before they only had tahitian, so of course it wouldn't match the flash red of the mid 80's.

Dc plastics are very good for the purpose they were designed for ........ racing ! They will never be as good as injection moulded parts (as per the o.e. ones). Nor will they be as expensive. If you want plastics for a show queen, look elsewhere. Otherwise they are perfect.
I have used their plastics on my 78 390 for years. I have thrown the bike down the track a few times, and other than the odd scrape and scuff they are good. Never broken one either.
I also have them as a complete set on my 81 KLX250. A few years on, and still looking good.
Tom is a really good guy to deal with too.
Just as soon as I have straightened the original knackered Falk fender for my 390WR, that will be off to them for new ones to be made. I have been searching for about 8 years or more for a genuine Falk enduro rear fender. There is one on the market for a Hercules, but the radius where it fits into the frame is all wrong.

Thanks for all the input, it sounds like the stuff I need to complete my regular rider/racer. Looks aren't everything, I'm sure it will look better than the dingy, zip tied together stuff that I'm useing now.
Thanks Again

I got a set for my Ossa Phantom and 1980 Yz125. Good material, the Ossa's were a little wierd shaped and didn't fit well. I think his molds were taken off fiberglass replicas. I mentioned it to him once and he immediately got defensive and stopped listening, so I let it go. They are still on the bike and function well. The Yz's translucent side covers look really good but didn't fit perfectly. Would've cut and re-welded the mounts, if I hadn't already powdercoated the frame. They are still on the bike and function well.
