    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

So I bought my new Strada not too long ago, and it of course started overheating. I took it to the dealer because its still under warranty, Honda would fix my bike without any issues when it was under warranty so I figured the same for this, however this dealer/mechanic isnt the smartest and called Husqvarna and asked what to do with it???

Its been sitting in their garage since Tuesday and im tempted to take them a shop manual however I think they should already have one. Any advice on getting my bike fixed so I can go ride it?
Im not the best at messing with stuff I trust my life to so I would rather have them mess with it.

I think we are on our own. We are the red headed step child.
OZ seems to have the best support, US , not so much. My big time Husky dealer didn't even know what a Moss tool was and that was before KTM dumped us in a ditch!
Don't get me wrong cause I really like mine. Just hope for no problems!!
 
Yeah, I loved it too when it wasn't overheating. It was a nice step up from my cbr250r.

My Husqvarna dealer doesn't know what the moss tool is either, I told him about backfiring and he said it was ca compiant so it wasn't bad, went to the bmw dealership and they told me the same thing but offered to hook it up if I really wanted to try. However they knew the computer wouldn't read it.
 
Well a cooling system is a cooling system. If the mechanic doesn't know basic troubleshooting that would be a big red flag. There are some dealers who are picking up left over Italian bikes from other dealers/suppliers and selling them to make a few bucks even though they were never really Husky dealers prior to the KTM take over. Perhaps you might ask a few questions regarding how many TRs they've serviced and if the answer bothers you, move along to another dealer. Warranty work is not limited to the purchasing agent. Any authorized dealer is covered I would think.
 
Just so you know, mine does not overheat in southern California heat but I run ZipTy XF2 anyway.
You might just try that. When I drained my coolant it looked like diluted non fat milk.
Worth a try.............

Sadly they are the only one within 200km which covers 80% of my state. And the answer to how many trs is exactly 1...mine.

And to isldtime the tempature is ~60 F here there a issue, my cbr250r can idle for at least a hour (accident and not legal to lane spit) and not overheat so I know there is a issue with my tr if it cant sit though a light without overheating.
 
Try burping the bike. A lot of dealers did not burp the cooling system before delivery.

Also check the hose that comes out of the bottom of the expansion tank, some have a tight bend that crimps off the hose that feeds the radiator when the bike cools.

Hope you get it sorted, they are a great bike, just have a few teething problems.

Cannister-ectomy? And yeah im gonna show them my shop manual on Tuesday (when they open) and tell them to get to work lol
 
I know it should not be thus but I have done more on this bike than I would normally do . And loved the journey. Its the way to get confidence...small steps and time.
The group who still have this red bastard child of a bike are fantastic and the source of great solutions , here and over on adv rider.
Me? .Im gonna keep this bike because it is good , i know it better and just to piss the pricks off. Maybe force them to release hexcode one day....wanna be in on that one......

Well they gave me a update, said it was faulty thermostat. So they are ordering a new radiator as they said the thermostat was built into the radiator?
I was a little confused but I didn't question them as the parts list doesn't show the thermostat either.
 
Yes, the thermostat is built into the radiator. The thermostat is not available separately. A common symptom of a bad thermostat is half the radiator will be cold, and half will be hot. Yours would not be the first to have a bad thermostat from the factory, so it is a reasonable diagnosis.
 
After Husky/KTM replaced my radiator 4 or 5 times they finally gave the shop authorization to check the engine for problems. They found it was a leaking headgasket or something like that. Replaced the whole engine.... And the new engine blew up. Luckly I fall under the lemon law so in the progress of trying to get ahlold of either KTM or husky.
