  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Does 2011 TE250/310 need steering damper

Again just looking for advice as I plan to pull trigger on new TE310. Anyone have 250/310 and recomend a steering damper? I had a Scotts on my CRF450X and what a great device in CA deserts. Is the damper needed with a lighter and less powerful bike? I want to have fun and I will spend the money. Thanks guys.

I don't use one on any of my Huskys...I do use a scotts on my Yamaha.

The new bikes are not as stable as the old ones and they turn a lot better, I still do not think they need a damper and I have one sitting in a box on my shelf and don't use it on my TE

I ride tight enduros so maybe in the desert it may be a good idea to keep the bars from getting blown out of your hands on big hits.

I would not think that a damper is needed in most cases but in the desert I'd add one if possible for safety ....

Thanks guys. Good advice. You are obviously correct about the open desert and just general big hits. I'll see how it goes before I get one. Man did that Scottsdale work great. I would be pinned on my 450X in the desert and the bars were like butter. Ok maybe not always pinned but it sounds impressive. I'll report back when I get the bike. Hopefully this weekend.

i have a txc 250,2011.rode it about 10-12 rides .no damper.would not mind having one,if i had one i would use it on the bike.most of the time i dont even think about it tho so for me i dont think that item is a must have.uptite skid plate and some cycras and you should be good to go.the 310 even runs good with stock mapping.dan

Full disclosure as I manufacture and sell stabilizers...

...but any bike benefits IMHO. My TE511 is about the most stable bike have ever owned and mounted one up and noticed very nice advantages in the rocks and lack of fatigue at the end of the day. LOVE the way it makes the bike track and hold a line in the rocks. You have more energy at the end of the day as you are not death gripping the bars. Its one of those things that is not necessarily but once you own and use one you might not want to ever ride without one again.

here it is on my TE511...

Thanks. How does the Motosportz damper compare to Scotts? Also does this damper raise the bars? I am only 5'6" and will this be an issue? Would love to support dealers on the site.

I've had a damper on my last 3 bikes and can't find a good reason to not have one. I've used a GPR, Motosportz and a Scotts. They each have their pros & cons as far as dampers go.
