• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

DoubleTake Mirror on the TR650

So after long consideration I broke the bank again and ordered a pair of DoubleTake Adventure Mirrors. The reason behind this is because I really dislike the aesthetics of the OEM mirror and it wasnt really wide enough which causes me to constantly adjust it to see anything through it. I've tried cheapo Chinese Rizoma replica's but the glass they use have a magnification of 20% which really messes with your view so after a week riding with those I tossed them again. Then I went and got me some generic mirrors that are used on many Kawasaki naked bikes. I got this idea from some other topic here. They look good and the view rearwards is pretty decent but the vibrations are terrible (especially left mirror) and will make it impossible to see anything at high speeds.

Today I installed the DoubleTake mirrors and I will post an update after a month or so of my experiences with these. If any of you have any questions, feel free to ask. I hope the rubber ball studs and RAM arm will reduce the vibrations in the mirror.

So these are the generic mirrors with standard glass I had installed before the DoubleTake Mirrors:

This are the contents of the package that I received directly from DoubleTake in the US. You can just go to their website and choose Husqvarna as your bike and order your own parts. They will bolt right up. The TR650 has a 10 mm x 1.25 mirror thread for those wondering.

I then used a bit of Loctite on the ball stud to prevent accidental loosening due to vibrations. I first tightened it by hand and then used the RAM arm to fasten it further.
