• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

ECEA Hare Scramble 5/22/16

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Sunday May 22nd, ECEA OXBO Hare Scramble in Frackville Pa.

2nd time a race has been held at this location and it has some of the best that coal country has to offer.

It rained on Saturday and threatened all day Sunday, but held off to make for perfect conditions. I ran the old man’s ‘B Super Senior’ on my 250XC in the morning race and Andy lined up his ’14 TC250 on the 250A line for the afternoon race. The ECEA club; South Penn Enduro Riders did a fantastic job overall of setting up the event and all the requirements that come with it…

Andy and Grandma (she doesn't miss many!)

I sorry to say there’s more pics of the white fender on the orange bike than of the white fender on the white bike…but I’ll get to that.

I won’t go into much detail about my race since it doesn’t contain what this site is about. But I had a blast riding to 2nd place in class; let’s just leave it at that.

When I came in Andy was getting ready for the afternoon race. I told him that the track was prime, right up his alley and don’t wait to push.

He got off the line great, 3rd to the corner and first into the woods. He said he was crusin’ pretty good and did not hear any bikes behind when things went south.

The rear brakes overheated and started locking up. He clutched and ripped to try and keep the back wheel turning thru the brakes. Said the rear being tight pushed his front end all over the place. He actually pushed thru one lap and pulled in. I have NEVER seen brakes this hot. It melted the rubber cap on the nipple. The pedal had free movement up and down but the brakes were locked on. When I cracked the bleeder nipple boiling brake fluid shot out, and it was a good hi-temp fluid. Apparently after the last mud run in Delaware he replaced the brake pads but did not do a good cleaning of the puck. It had to have been hanging up, causing friction, which expanded the fluid, which got him done in one lap. DNF…Sucked…

We were certainly looking forward to him putting a good one together. We're going to try it again in 2 weeks!!

But, huge thanks to the sponsors…

sorry for the misfortune, when racing the littlest of issues always rear their head big time. Lesson learned for the "kid". Also have him think about one of the add on external rear master return spring kits. And if not done already a reservoir extender and fresh Motul RBF660. You guys get a lot more wet and even the RBF660 needs to be bled regularly to keep it fresh

I flush my rear brakes once a month.... even the good fluid goes bad after its been heated a bunch....

I also run my little guys brake pedal a little lower because he likes his rear brakes..... lol

Probably wouldn't hurt to throw a new line on there too. They can fail internally and hold the pads tight to the rotor because the fluid can't return to the master.

All good points, thanks.

When we traveled all over the east coast I did all the mechanic work. There was no way I was going to spend that much time and money to have a mechanical issue that left the garage with us.

We are running the RBF and I like the helper spring idea, he keeps his pedal right on the trigger - hardly any free play.

I have the repair kits for the master and slave cylinders, but not a new hose. I believe the hose is fine, I think the mud from the enduro did him in...

Will report back, hitting the garage tomorrow.
