  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

EFI to Carb conversion?

MOTORHEAD

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Anybody know anything about converting a EFI bike to a Carb, like what all you have to swap out?

How much of the electrical system to you have to change?

Dude, save yourself lots of time, money, frustration and down time and just sell it. Get yourself a nice TXC with a carb. It sucks you're having so much trouble with that bike. I feel for you man.

The easiest way to convert to a carb would be to swap the bike for my 2006 TE250 :p

Seriously though, probably depends how much the ignition is tied into the black box that runs the EFI, if its like other FI street bikes there is probably one ECU for everything and it won't spark properly w/o the proper inputs from all the stuff so just disabling the FI and adding a carb probably won't work. Most likely, you would need most of the electrical system from a carb bike along witha carb to convert.

wanna trade an 08 TXC for your 08 TE510?

Get it to the dealer or someone with IBeat to re-set your TPS value in the computer.

How about an electrical and fuel system swap?

Thanks for all the sympathy, I can really use some about now.

I have the WR about restored and ready to go racing, so now I can focus on getting the TE running again, which looks like it's going to take a trip back up to Hall's.

The WR doesn't have any graphics on it right now, I need to get some ordered while the plastic's fresh.

I'll get some pix up ASAP. I've got to put the seat together, rebuild the forks and a couple of little things and it will be ready to go, I hope.
