• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Engine Oil Light

Excuse the dumb question here please :)

I have an 06 610SM, and it has about 7300kms on it now, and loving every minute of it :)

The engine oil replacement light came on today, now according to the manual this is only after the first 1000kms or so.

Is this just a normal thing to come on every now and again to advise you to change the oil, or should it only come on that first time ?

And is there a problem with it coming on again ?

Cheers
Chris

I believe the default is after every 30 hours of running, the oil can is displayed on the LCD. About 15 miles from home one day, I saw the oil can on the display. I thought I had just lost oil pressure, but later learned it was just a friendly reminder. I pulled over, checked oil level, checked for leaks, etc. I was pretty sure it was only a reminder, but imagine the cost of being wrong. I should have read that damn owner's manual. Instructions can be found here.

Thanks for that.

Yeah i had a check of it when i got home, levels are all fine and looks good, glad it was just a reminder and nothing else, would not like to figure the cost if something went wrong.

Will just reset it and wait for it to pop up again.

Thanks again :)
