• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I had the pleasure of going for a solo ride, because a solo ride in the woods is better than a day on the couch.

This is a strange time of year around here. It is a transitional time between summer vacation and fall schedules. It's hit or miss if people will be at those types of places midweek.
 
Nice pics. I was just up in the mountains myself with a group of friends. Good shot of the lake.:) All lakes look suspiciously like they should have good fishing to me.:p
 
When I saw the title of this report my first thought was "Hey! Maybe he didn't see my braid hanging out of my helmet! I'm not a guy!" :lol:

Nice ride, Phil. Was the big lake Ice House Reservoir? And were the last few photos taken on the way back down to 50 on the road that goes to Wright's Lake? It drops you down onto 50 just east of Kyburz. I've done a lot of exploring and singletracking in the ElDorado and it's beautiful up there:thumbsup:

Although not really recommended I like riding by myself too sometimes.

I have to start taking my GPS along just to see where I've gone.

Your close Woodsy, The lake is Union Valley, and everything else is where you thought. The bike shots were at the Rock Creek OHV area.

I hear ya Husky, but I have a pre planned map that I give to my wife where I will be and check in a few times so she knows where I am. It helps that she rides these areas as well. I thought about a spot location devise, but I ride where there are big trees and have heard that they do not do so well in these areas.

Yes Dirtdame, the German Browns are huge in that lake. The Rainbow population is doing well.

Me too. I would like to hear from those who have one. If trees or high mountains adversely affects it's use.:excuseme:

The wife and I went rafting on the American out of Colima one year. Very fun and exciting, better than Disney's by far. That pic of the American looked very familiar. The scariest part of the rafting was taking the school bus down a steep and twisty road to the river.

Glangston, that part of the river is where the river enters the Coloma state park or real close to where you would have been done with your rafting adventure

For rides like this I would love to have a TE 610. That is a beautiful bike with the rack and Leo Vince pipe. An excellent DS indeed! :thumbsup: My 510 would need 2+ tanks of gas to cover that much ground. :cheers:
