Had the maiden voyage aboard the new '10 TC250 I just picked up.Took it to the moto track to shake it down. Bit hot but not too humid and the dirt all in all was pretty decent as they didn't overwater based on yesterday's rain so got to get a good feel for things.
First off the KYB forks are a huge upgrade from the Zokes. Noticed the plush controlled action of them immediately. Good stuff and hopefully Husky will continue to spec their stuff with the KYBs. Over jump under jump braking bumps chop etc. they just soak it all up without a peep.
Rear Sachs works well as usual as I didn't notice any issues from the rear at all. Very good balanced set up!
Engine wise I would say seat of my pants it is a little down to say a KX250F but not anything that is going to hold someone like myself(51y/o midpack vet)back and it makes power where I'll be riding anyway. Shifting was excellent clutch worked great carb was spot on and was an easy starter even when I stalled it one time(pilot error). All it took was pull the hot start lever and one kick it was fired back up. It's all about finding the sweet spot just past TDC and it'll start 1-2 kicks everytime. Brakes were great and the front is awesome, great feel and super strong but in a good way as it has excellent modulation.
Chassis handles great and turns and sticks awesome and the stock Pirellis are great for where I ride. You can cut the inside line and not even think about it and there's no hint of washout or standing up etc at all. Basically it carves like a knife and I've ridden many RMs & CRs and this bike gives nothing away to them. On top of that the stability is solid as well. Just a really easy and confidence inspiring bike to try to push yourself on.
In summation I know it's only a first ride but I'd say in stock form the X-Lite TC250 is a solid winner.
Here's a pic prior to the first voyage.
