• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

First track day.

At the tender age of 43 I did my first track day last weekend, been riding road bikes most of my life but never got around to sampling a race track. Jetted off from UK to Portugal and spent 3 days racing round Portimao circuit which is just an amazing place, better still I was riding an ex Eugene Laverty CBR600RR, thanks to my boss, from 2009 with approx 134bhp, best handling bike I've ever been on. You tube clip attached for those interested.

To give you some idea of speed, the last right hand bend before start/finish straight was around 125mph then hitting 171mph on the straight.

Thanks for posting that was a good one!!

Portimao, On a side note as a celebration of the brilliant circuit of Portimao, our formerly sponsored Brux Racing rider Claudio Corti with his tribute to Portiamao Leathers and special Portimao, Portugal Flag paint job on his 1000cc Yamaha World supersport machine.

I loved my 03 cbr600rr and when I replaced it with a 06 gsxr600 I really wanted my old bike back. Do you have pictures of the bike? What an awesome track to be on. I always dreamed of going to Europe for some street and track riding. Heck, even going to Laguna and Barber here would be awesome. Are you hooked now?

awesome.

Ps you dont need no 1000cc to haul arse around the circuit!!! Laverty's ex 600 was plenty powerful to power past those other guys and go deeper into braking.

Yeah no kidding. I really couldn't imagine a 1000 on the track. Even putting around on the street their a handful at time. 600's are great. I've thought of picking up a ninja250 or sv650 for cummuter/track days. I'd save as much in gas per year as it'd cost to buy a nice used one

Some pics of the bike. It's an awesome bit of kit, we had it detuned by changing the map on the £4500 motec ECU, could put out another 11bhp but would also go bang a lot quicker!
I would be hooked if I could afford it, it's a very expensive hobby.
