• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fork Interchange

Pro Class
I have been thinking of trying to find some forks to replace the 45 Zokes on the 05 TE. It is still a solid bike with fairly low hours and would like to get a little more plush ride in the rocky stuff. Les worked his magic, but there is only so much even he can do.
Les thinks I should stay with the Husky Zokes and find some 50s. What I'm wondering is: what triple clamps would work from say 06 up TE-WR, without changing the offset? I think the head bearings are the same so it may not be that hard to find something?

I've done a little search on this. The cost of 50s is crazy high with all that come with changing to different size forks. Triples, hubs. Does the whole front end need changing?

I rode a WR125 and loved the forks. Hated the jetting bog, but the forks were great. So I know where you are coming from.

The question is: How much are you willing to pay? Cause it won't be cheap. And is it worth the money? Cause you will pay a pretty penny for this change.

I am under the impression that the hubs are the same, because the wheel assembys are the same for a few years. No question about the triple clamps though, just a matter of which ones will work.
I'm sure you are right about being spendy.

50mm

I have a 2005 te450 and i switched to the 50mm FBF works forks.Used there tripleclamps. The stock front wheel go's right on and used stock axle. I have FBF axle same size as stock axle. I might be interested in selling the 50mm front end if there is anyone interested.

I am interested in hearing some more about them. Like what were they set up for, how much$ etc.
You can PM me if you like.

Save yourself the money and contact Ian @ Riders Edge Suspension. The problem is not the fork, it's a bad valve issue. I was really frustrated with the 45's and spent a lot of money on them, with no results. I put the new valves in and Ians shim stack. The new valve is huge and flows the oil. Forks are totally different. He's doing a lot of the 45's now and Zoke 50's. I also used Vinduro's sag numbers. Mine were harsh, deflecting, washing out. Best $200 I ever invested. I also did my 09 50's with same results. Just give Ian a call, tell him your frustrations, then sit back and listen. Bike takes 1/2 the energy to race, sticks like glue, and the older frame turns like newer frames.

Go up under common topics, suspension set up and look @ the valves. If you need help pm me as others have.

Not gonna BS ya. I'm a pretty fast guy, and for me I prefer the 45's over the 50's. I find it stupid that at least on a wr125/150 that Husqvarna choses to use the 50's. Reason I think. To much of a headache for them to put 45's on it. At least for woods riding I like the extra flex. The 50's are nice to. I like the fact that Gas Gas chose to stick with the 45's for longer then Husky. It is all about valving, correct spring rates, preload spacers if needed and correct oil height and viscosity. Finding the right guy to do your suspension and giving him ACCURATE riding abilities, weight, and where you ride are also critical. There are many good shops out there. Iv'e had pretty good luck with Hall's doing it. For me I have found (and Halls has told me not to) but I run 0 wt fork oil. Seems to help the front end feel a bit more plush. Not sure if there is any weight difference (I would assume the 50's weigh more) but that is another reason I would rather have the 45's at least on a 125 WR (cr may need the 50's for jumping hard!) Good luck!

There are some pitfalls to changing front ends on huskys. The 45mm forks have a different caliper spacing than the 50mm forks (FBF 50mm are the exception) so the front brake caliper would have to be changed if you are using more modern 50mm forks. The steering stem on the newer huskys with 50mm forks is also different except for 2006 50mm forks. You can press out the steering stems or make a bearing change to make it work. Good luck.
