  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Front brake line replacement

Does anyone know who makes a replacement front brake hose without having to go OEM? I need one. 2008 TE450. I borrowed the one off my sons TE250 but its a little short with the headlight mounted. Luckily, tomorrow is a hare scramble and I dont need the headlight so it should be ok with the number plate. Next weekend is an enduro where i need the headlight.

I tried my buddy's "Streamline" brand hose off of his CRF450. It was too short but it definitely gave me little better front brake feel. (his Honda OEM Master Cylinder was a HUGE improvement when combined with the Streamline brake hose).

Did you check any of the sites that specialize in super moto stuff? I used to use Honda master cylinders and front line routing on my YZ250 and it made a HUGE difference so I know how you feel. Im sure there is a line from another make / model that will fit. Maybe a KTM? If the CRF450R line fit then maybe a CRF-X line would be good seeing the X model has a headlight? Check out the pic. Looks plenty long enough compared to the MX bike. Are you racing the tri-county HS?

Yes, I will be there. Mike from Motosportz says he should have something. On top of all that BS, the CRF master I got off ebay is bad. :(

Cool. Should be fun but a tad chilly! Of course the master cylinder you got off ebay is bad.......if you didnt need it tomorrow it would have worked fine! That does suck though. I will keep a look out for my fellow husky rider. You running the morning event or afternoon?

Running the afternoon. Too cold in the am...lol
I think I will just use it as a test and tune day. New ergos (took out bar risers for the shorter brake line). Just redid my forks and shock for the first time for myself. I figure if I just pin it from the start then I wont pay attention to set up and since I really suck at set up, I should pay attention to it.

Same here. Just bought my 449 about a month ago and have spent that time getting it ready. I have about ten minutes of ride time on it around the back yard so Im hoping for the best but expecting the worst. I bought the bike for SM duty but after feeling how well the rear end works I thought it would be a shame not to test it out in the SNJ sand! Are you running a # on your bike? I will be in the A-vet row. No numbers on the side but a #139 from B class on the front plate. I have a feeling this bike is going to chew me up and spit me out!

514 C class colors. Not sure if i am going to B heavy to ride with my buddy or B Senior so I can stay in the back and tune the bike.
