  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fuel Censor

I have a TE 510 and for whatever reason the fuel sensor stopped working.

Right now I have taken out the gas pump assembly from the tank.

My question is will the low fuel light show up with just the key turned on the bike? I hooked up just the pump assembly to the bike and turned the key but no orange light on the dash.

Does the bike have to be running for the light to show? Maybe ill just put a bit of gas in the tank and see if it works.

Usually its a broken wire on the sensor inside the Tank . With the Pump unit out , there is a small metal "canister" about 25mm long ,10mm dia , this is the sensor . There should be a wire soldered to it (orange wire from memory) normally broken , resolder .

I am not 100% but think sensor should work with just key on .

Sorry this is from memory a year or so ago . Search on here there are many theads with photos .

yeah I read all the threads and visually everything looks fine on the pump. All wires are connected and look okay.. One is sleeved, didn't take that off to double check the wire though.. When the key is initially turned the orange light works so Its not a broken LED- All 3 lights turn on for a second (high beams, signal, low gas). I disconnected the battery for a few mins to reset dash, still nothing.

Im guessing the sensor works by detecting if it is dry or not? with just a small amount of gas in the tank It still didn't turn on. I did the fuel pump mod and I believe ever since the sensor hasn;t been working.

This is for an 09, Im not sure what the next step is to fix the issue... already ran out of gas the first time I noticed the problem.
