Hey everyone! I am in desperate need of some advice/guidance. My 2011 TE 449 will not start. It began cutting out when I was riding as if I was running out of fuel. I got home and there was nearly half a gallon left, so I inspected the filter elements both at the petcock and in the lower fuel tank. Sure enough the lower tanks strainer was quite dirty. I cleaned it out as best I could--it is attached permanently on my model. Then, I went to try to start it and nothing...not even the poor running it had been doing. I rechecked all connections, made sure I was of course getting spark, which I was, and I am stumped. I was afraid my fuel pump had failed, so I ordered and installed a new one, but no different result.
I did notice one thing that may be a tell-tale to anyone in the know! It used to be, about 30 seconds after I turned off the ignition, I heard a cool electrical/mechanical sound that I assumed to be something shutting down (perhaps the fuel pump). That no longer happens; however, if I listen really closely, there is a very quiet click at the relay on the left side of the bike. I suspect the pump is never actually getting powered up, but I don't know why.
Any thoughts at all are greatly appreciated.
Thanks so very much in advance for any help at all!
Sincerely,
Kevin
