  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FYI, guess where Husky sources the new 310 cylinder from............you guessed it Athena. I believe the Gilardoni foundry is where the others sourced from.

In this month's DR, they didn't seem very impressed with the 310. They did mention that the cylinder is indeed marked with the Athena logo. If it were my business, I would have requested it unmarked. Kind of gave away the mystique of it all for me, but hey, what's the difference? Get your big-bore kit financed with the bike & take it home today! That's gotta be better than doing it the other way.

Totally agreed,
they source the engine cases out to Gilardoni foundry as it is now. We build great airplanes that way too.

Yep, just one break-in and I think the difference in price is only $400 between the 250 and 310. Kits are $750 plus a perfectly good 250 set is on the shelf somewhere in your garage.

Athena is good stuff! What it really makes me wonder.... is there a TE350 or 400 in the works for '10? A bike that will take the KTM 400 XCW on straight up. French Importer did a TE410 a few years ago with OEM parts, as the mid size TE was going to be a 400, until FIM changed capacity rules. I believe the French Importer also did a TE310 kitted bike that dealers sold.

Hey Norman :notworthy:

I'm thinking of getting a TE310. The 400 XCW was on my short list but in the end I think the Husky is going to win out. Reasons...slightly lighter, EFI, plated, price. Any one of these things wouldn't sway me on their own but all together I don't think they can be ignored.
