• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Gas cap for TXC511

Johnny A

Husqvarna
My TXC511 has a plastic gas cap that is getting tricky to get on. I know Husky has an aluminum one for $68. What other options are there short of just using a rag? Will ones from other models work?

Toss the stock one ASAP it warps and gets near impossible to get on. The husky one threads on like butter and looks / works great. I don't thing any other bikes have internal threads like this bike.

Thanks, I was looking for other options.

Well if Husky is going to sell a bike with a plastic POS gass cap it does not feel good to get bent over for a second time and have to pay $68 for one that works. I am not say it should be free but $68 plus shipping, REALLY?

Ive actually managed to use both of my stock units for almost 3 years now. One is getting to be a bit fiddly and I will probably replace it soon....

In other words if you are patient with the stock one you may be able to use it for some time.

If you machined parts you would know that not a bad deal. Needs several setups, threads, then ano and laser. It adds up quick. It works fantastic.

Call ZipTy, I think they were making some too.

Mine was toast in about 6 months. Warped so bad i could not get it back on. Was super frustrating. Also leaked once warped. I know your 511 sits int he sun a bunch at events and am very surprised it did not warp ASAP.

I would like to see an innie to outie converter so you can use the TC cap or some other similar cap

I recall Zip Ty was talking about something like that....

I think there was talk of that. I don't mind the innie cap but would have prefered the other way around like every other bike on the planet :>)

Well that is the risk of trying something new. Never know where the problems will be until they show up. Still I like thier out-of-box thinking. Who knows what next years bikes will bring but if at some point they start shipping with a better cap the replacement cost should go way down.
