  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Gearing ?? about my new(to me) 2010 TE510.....

Is going to the 12 in the front not recommended? stock on the 510 is 13/47. i could go to a 12 but how many of you out there are doing this...i know it wears fast.... i want it lower for trails... not really using it for street much... How high can i go before adding links? Just wanted to see what some of you are running on your 510's for tough trails... Thanks... PS... This bike kicks ass!!!

I ran 13/47 and 12/47 with the stock 112 chain-
till I wore out the stock stuff then went to 13 and 14/50 and 114 links

12's work fine- till you get the 50 or 51 and new chain

check out this post for some more/ related info:

I run 13/50 for hilly single track and tight stuff, 14/50 as general purpose selection for moderate stuff with mostly forest road or desert riding, and 15/50 for when there is lots of highway and road, such as Moab which can have many longer 65mph pavement transits.

i run 12 47 on my 510 for my normal use (tigth s/t). for more open places i switch back to stock.
After 1900 kms im still havent changes chain and sprockets.
