  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Gearing Ratio for 06 510?

Bought a new chain for like 55$ because I used a coupon ''RK520SO 120L''. Now the question is, what is the best gearing for an 06 TC510? Current gearing is 14/48(worn out), should I replace and keep the same ratio or can I go 13T in the front? The bike was geared to be a straight line rocket ship and I want it to be both of all worlds sort of speak. I'm afraid that my 51 spare for the 125 onto a 510 would be too crazy bottom end haha.

My 06 tc450 was useless with 14/50, most of my club track was first and second gear. Third wasn't an option anywhere. 13/50 is right on the money, and I don't think another tooth out back would hurt it either. If off trading o. Trails I'd go even lower.

I'm leaning towards the 13/49, I ordered a Supersprox Stealth that is coming in shortly and also a ProX 13T next week. I appreciate your input and now I have a better understanding to start with on the 510.

I rode an Enduro yesterday and could have had a 51 on my 450, maybe even a 52. There was some really tight threading the bars thru trees stuff that had me slipping the clutch in first. Thankfully it was a faster style course for the most part.

No lack of top end either, it was easily doing 55/60 on some wide open stuff. I only used fifth on connector roads and at lower speeds than I hit in fourth gear.
