• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Glad I got this dodo bird

Sad to see this bike go if the rumors are true. I'm not scared I got a possibly one year bike i am ecstatic that I snagged one while I could. (sold a couple really nice bikes to get this so it was a commitment) If this bike will go the way of the Dodo bird it will be sad, it really hits a mark. I finally got it out for this years first real ride as the weather has changed. I did a quick 50 mile loop with a good amount of off road. Going to be the perfect bike for my exploring needs. Fantastic road bike and usable off road. Just what I needed for exploring this area.

Kelly,
I feel the same and even though I've only done limited amount of riding the Terra it fills the bill perfectly....I had posted I used to be in sales before I retired from working and I got to ride all the big fours stuff. To get where this bike is to me I'd have to drop a boat load
of dough just to get what ever it would have been to be half of what the Terra is, yes we got lucky either way.....

Motosportz, I really like your Dodo bird term - cracked me up. But of course i hope you're wrong about that.

Hey, I just had the best idea! You were saying I needed a dual sport. Well, you've got two! You can rally the 650, and I'll rape your 511. Sound good? :excuseme:

So where is the bash plate, bark busters and 606's Kelly. I know you are good but in the stuff you do it could be expensive.

Just a thought on the Dodo . If in fact this bird becomes extinct which company would be responsible for warranty claims, parts availability, the moss diagnostic tool etc. BMW or the new Husky/KTM. Since BMW developed this bike why would they not include it in their line up in place of the GS650. According to everyone on this site the Terra is superior to the Serato (hope I got the spelling right). Any thoughts?

Anyone got a source on this rumor?

all the info from the new owner points at this bike possibly being done. I think there is a chance it could live one which would be great but also a good chance it is gone. All rumor and speculation at this point.

Took the plate off to give to a customer that needed it more than me. The rest is in the works, like I said, just dug out of for the spring dust off.

the MOSS tool still works, and probably always will. The rest i can fix or Bills can help. I have always took care of my own stuff. I don't see this motor ever blowing up / having big issues.

right on.. I've never had a car or bike in a shop other than for smog stuff, and I'm 65. I see this engine as bullet-proof and the rest is on me, just like any other bike I've owned - but I don't see this bike as a problem either way the wind blows - for anyone.

I'm in agreement for the most part-- just curious though, if the 12:1 compression ratio concerns any of you guys who have been around bikes for longer than I.... I just came off a Honda XR 650L, famous for its reliability and indestructibility, and the low compression ratio was frequently cited as a factor. Low compression = less pressure on head gasket. Have modern materials relegated this maxim to the annals of history?

LOL, Really funny calling ti a Dodo bird! it fits....Luv it. Just changed my Avatar accordingly....
There will only be a handful of us who will know why you did this...A few years from now, you might want to find a " Golden Dodo" Avatar.:D

Everything I've read supports that the 650 is dead. So is the Nuda (wish they would've imported that one). Felt the same way regarding my TE 630 being only a two year model, but it was really just an update of the 610. Bought a Husaberg FS570 and it's the same story. I still believe that parts will be obtainable for either bike thru KTM. As hard as I've fought buying an orange bike, they keep buying the competition and making me a customer whether I like it or not.

Well, I have two Dodo's, and very glad of it. 630 and 650. It's difficult to understand how corporate heads can decide to kill off great bikes, but then we don't have all the numbers. I'm sure some of those top guys are not really into motorcycles, just into making money. I heard the head of GM a few years ago make that exact statement in regard to the cars they build. Witness the pregnant guppie that the Caprice was not long ago. Only police departments would buy it. A car guy could never have blessed that model's looks. Less someone think I'm down just on GM, Ford gets the same treatment. I really wanted one of the new Mustangs but when I heard that Bill Ford made them change the design from independent rear suspension to solid axle (originally independent with an option for solid), I cancelled plans to buy one. It was all to save some rediculously small amount of dollars. Heck, I even wrote to him (very politely) but got no response. Yeah, I know, but I'm probably on more than one "enemies" list.
