  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just wondering what a lot of you guys are running, been reading alot about the Cycra ProBend handguards, wondering if these are the best bet to go wiuth, and just looking for some general opinions, i found the racer package on BRP, for $125, wondering if it'll be worth it. Thanks.

I've been really happy with enduro engineering, good design, good quality, good price, and made in Michigan. I like to support the local economy. I think these are the same ones sold by moose racing. I was watching an online video of the Erzberg enduro the other day and noticed lots of the guys had damaged or missing hand guards, the guy (forgot who it was) who was using the enduro engineering guards still had his intact. I don't plan on putting mine thru that kind of abuse, but nice to know the would likely hold up.

My bars tend to hit the ground too often, the Cycras are the best I've used so far, at least the strongest and I've tried a lot of them, never used the EE's though. I run Flexx bars so I cannot use the HDB's but they are supposed to be very tough also, not cheap though. I would stay away from the Moose and Acerbis, I personally think they bend way too easy.

I use Moose guards. Mine are identical to EE Evolution guards. I bounce them off trees far too often, and they take it all in stride.

Yeah that was another concern I had ARH, I wanted a product that was made in U.S.A. Just like to give back to our economy rather than Chinas all the time, Ill definitely take a look at the EE's now, how hard are they to mount up, I have a '09 te510, love it, just wondering if it's difficult to mount, next on my list is a Scotts sterring damper, gona set me back, but everything ive read about them seems worth it, i just want to get the mounting kit too keep it more concealed, thanks alot guys.

Mine were easy to mount, but you do have to drill out the bar ends. I'd also recommend cutting a bit off if you ride tight woods. I think I took about 3/4" off each side.

No problems putting them on, comes with complete instructions. It took me less than a hour and I had never done it before. I did not have to do any drilling for mounting on a TE250 with magura bars, just trim the rubber grips.

ARH, what year is your bike? My 2009 TE250 has the thick wall aluminum bars. I don't know the brand, but they are OE. The provided inserts couldn't come close to fitting without drilling.

2012, they are the magura bars that came stock with the bike. Either yours has different bars or different inserts. I just had to trim the grips and I now recall I did have to cut the closed end off the plastic throttle body too, but hardware fit inside the bars fine, and they are thick walled. It was an interesting insert too, never seen anything like it, but I have not had to adjust or tighten anything since installation. I have hit enough trees and used them as handles to pick up my bike numerous times too, so if they were going to give out I figure they would have by now.

Hey just wondering what kind of bars are on my 2009 te510, saw a thread on here that said they may be Domino bars, considering the only things on them says Axis Centralize. Just curious if this will be an issue when i go to actually install the handguars end mounts?

I like Polisport Lite because they allow the handlebars to flex normally and don't weigh much at all. (similar to the all-plastic KTM handguards) The downside is that they aren't the absolute strongest - but they seem to ward off most contact I have - and they can move a little when I fall - but that seems to protect the rest of the bike.

Unfortunately it seems like Polisport isn't making them anymore

Do you know if these fit the type of bars i have? I'm going to give Enduro Engineering a call tomorrow to get the full specs from them, see what they have to say. I must say i am impressed by BRP's product.

Ok I'll be the first. Highway Dirt Bikes are by far the best you can get hands down! I have run moose which are the same as EE. They went impressive! Then I moved up to Cycra triple clamp mounted which were better but still bent when hit hard enough.

I come on this board and everyone is raving about HDB. So I give them a try and oh my god! The really are that good! Top quality finish work and they mount to the top clamp which is great and they drop down on the sides and are oversized around the grip. They are the balls when compared to the rest!

This all sounds really good to me as I'm gonna have to add a few sets of these to my bikes ....

I'm not 100% sure on the bar sizes that the EE guards fit on ... My 08 TXC250 and 010 TC250 bikes have the Tommasellis bars so will the EE guards or any others fit on the fat end of the bar without any mods?

Might be the Tommasellis brand ... That's what I have always read on this site about my bars that have the same "Axis Centralize' words on them ....Never saw that Domino name before now ...

The issue I see with these bars (as I asked above), is that they are fatter around the mounting clamp than at the ends where you grip them...

At ray ray, that exactly what my bars look like. I'm having a hard time figuring out what they are. Wish the manuals that came with the bike were a little bit more comprehensive.

That is what my bars look like, and that I had to drill. If ARH has the same bars, then it's possible that there's a different insert supplied that will fit. Regardless, I didn't receive them with my Moose/EE guards and had to drill them.

If you have Tomasellis (sp) you'd have to drill out the ends, you'd probably have to drill the Tomasellis no matter what bar end mount you use, not sure if you have stock bars and if 2004 stock bars were Tomasellis, I know my 2005 stock bars were but my 2009 were fat bars that didn't need drilling (I think???).
