• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Has anyone else had a message from ?

dukkman

Husqvarna
AA Class
Sem hospital.
He sent me a message saying that he could fix my SEM for free and all I had to do was advertise his name on all my forums.
He's in England and I'm afraid that I have had so much trouble with English businesses that I was not really interested.
I decided to string him along a bit to see what happened and he ended up asking for my email address as it was too hard to communicate through this forum.
Have never heard from him again.
He is a forum member but has never posted anything.
Strange.
Anyone else had contact and if so what happened?

I have found I actually have 2 engines with SEM ignitions and I have only confirmed that 1 worked prior to me dismantling the bike for major rehab. I have to try to find the coil for the stray 82 250WR engine that I got in a motojumble of basket cases. The 1 I know works is currently sitting in the 78 ML build that I am detailing the use of newer engines in the ML frames

Steve Hardaker of Bradford Ignitions is the man to fix any SEM or Motoplat ignition. Google him...

He now lives in Cornwall UK having moved back from Spain.

Very helpful guy - fixed two ignitions for me recently...

Steve was the one who got my SEM wrong.

I know the PVL one's arent cheap but they come highly recommended by Paul Rooney, so when I have the spare cash thats what I'll be looking at.
Is there any reason not to use the PVL ignitions besides their price?

Speedy.

For me it was the price Speedy and having paid $300 up front  to the Steve [mentioned above] for a rewind that will not spark under 1500rpm  I now am reluctant to spend any more.
Not being a millionair slows ya down a little

Others have said that they have had problems with PVL's but I trust Paul also.

I am considering buying a new Gas Gas Enduro ignition system this winter and 'flipping' it so it will run on the right. This will give a 2 power swithable system with lights and made by Kokusan...
A lot of work though and very expensive...
Andy
