  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

HDB handguards?

A Class
I was hoping to get a set of these with the mirror and flashers, but I haven't heard back from them after filling out the online form and emailing them on Monday. I know some of these companies are one man operations and they're not always able to be as responsive as they'd like to be...but I need some handguards. Anyone else have this kind of experience with HDB? Maybe they're on vacation? Am I just too impatient? :)

I'm seriously thinking about ordering some Zetas and being done with it, but the HDBs look nice and it's got the flashers and the mirror built in...

Thanks

It's a small operation. I made a mistake on my order and accidentally ordered 2 Trailtech computer guards. Paul emailed me within a day and brought it to my attention rather than just blindly sending them out, thankfully. That was in January. I have a feeling they are either enjoying the Colorado riding time and/or conducting R&D on stuff this time of year. Trust me, it is worth the wait if you can stand it. I've got Paul's email address if you need it (to the OP).

Ioneater - yeah, PM me his address. I really like them because of the mirror and flashers. I'm not as worried about the front signals, but I had a single lowside and one of the rears is toast already so I'm going flush wherever I can.

My riding plans for next weekend just got canceled so I have a bit more time to spare before the next ride. Hopefully I can get in touch with him.

Thanks!

Send him email - I got mine but haven't installed them yet. They came with the lowers as well, so you don't have to worry about the bolt pattern.

You need to separately order the lowers (for an extra charge).
Paul Degarate (extremely helpful BTW) told me he no longer supports the stock TE bolt pattern of 93x50 and therefore you need to order complete upper and lower at 93x38/40.
You'll likely also need to drill out your bar ends from 7/16 to 9/16.
I have received my set and plan to install this wknd so will report back.
He also provided me a discount code and said fine to share:advrider01

ONE QUESTION FOR THE FORUM:
The tap provided does not have a paint mark or shrink wrap mark as indicated in the instructions to indicate required depth. Could someone measure the distance from Tap end to mark if theirs has a line? I'll reach out to Paul as well. Thanks

Kelly:
I see your tap did have shrink wrap - mine doesn't. Any chance you still have handy and could measure distance from tap end to tape? I've emailed HDB but no response (in fairness, hasn't been but a couple hours). Also, did you use any loctite when assembling? Thanks!

thats just electrical tape, All you have to do is make sure it is a little deeper than the bar end. Not critical at all. Bolt will take up any difference.
