  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Header for 2013 TE 449

apache te 449

Husqvarna
B Class
Where can i buy an aftermarket header for my 13 te-449?

I have power core 4 silencer, race map 3 ecu, and power commander 5 on bike right now.

Anybody put an aftermarket header on their te-449? Is it woth the money.

My power commander 5 really didnt' make that much difference. Though I have'nt played with the mapping yet. It came with Burson map. I just think my bike should have alot more power than it does right now. I love this bike but am kind of dissapointed in the power gain my pc-5 gave me, for what it cost me.

I am thinking that a header might be a good investment, but am not sure if it's worth the money???

Maybe I need yo have my pc-5 mapping adjusted. Not sure?

Please help

thanks alot

Didn't try the head pipe but ran the fmf with great results. I think bills has a pipe deal under his sponsored thread

Bills motorcycle plus. They are a sponsor on this site, they're at the bottom of the main page very good business to deal with. I ran the fmf slip on worked great but I did not run the fmf header so not sure of any hp difference stock vs fmf

I have gone to the FMF web site and they only show a header for a 2013 tc 449, not the te-449.

Will the tc-449 header work on my te 449. Does anyone know?

Does anyone out there have a te-449 with an aftermarket header? I'm having trouble finding one for my bike. I have the slip on powere core 4, but thats it. Where do i find one??

My understanding the tc header works but you need additional parts. Flange for cylinder for header to mount and exhaust springs to hold it on. Try Bills...

Jamie-

check out this deal at bill's (BMP): header for sale; Jon also mentions the parts you will need for a TE (another $150+).

But I'm a little confused too. My kid's 511, with basically the same setup as your 449, is a frikken rocket ship. On your bike, is the cat removed? (and was it in the header like my 310, or in the silencer- which is what I think, and so would not be a factor now) If it's still in your exhaust system- take it out. Also, insure that your air filter is clean, the intake tract clear etc. The fly-by-wire butterfly (FBW) might be an issue. Read up on these things.

And get the service manual and parts manual. (the 2012 service manual is the correct one for your bike). These free pdf's are courtesy of The Husqvarna Parts Outlet; many others are available.

I don't think a header is gonna make a huge difference to your bike's performance.

good luck.

ps- My son's Q4 was way too loud w/o the insert.

edit: come to think of it, my son's 511 has the JD tuner, not the PC5. But regardless, your bike should perform strongly with your current setup- if everything is correct.

Here is the list of parts you would need if you were to buy the 'Tc449' Header.

1 - 8000 H5995 Gasket
1 - 8000 H5992 Flange
1 - 8000 H5994 Sleeve
2 - 8000 H5393 Springs

You can source the springs a lot cheaper. I used an old pair of a 250f. Just go for the megabomb header. I'm super satisfied with my megabomb and 4.1 exhaust. I still have a brand new PC5 in the box as well.

I'm pretty sure you'll need a different silencer to mate up with that header. Either the Q4 or 4.1.

I believe dom is correct. My system is a 3 piece exhaust. header, midpipe, and the silencer. Not sure if the PC4 would adapt to the megabomb. If the PC4 has an already sorta midpipe it may work.

When I ordered me megabomb header, the guy at Bmp said that the megabomb should hook right up to my power core 4.

Now I am a little worried though. My powere core 4 is like brand new. Hopefully I wont have to spend another three hundred bucks on a new silencer.

Does anyone know for sure? My pc-4 I'm pretty sure had some midpipe to it.

Yes it will work, no worries. FMF stuff is designed to mate in the wild with both stock and exotic header systems on 449/511.

Jamie-
I replied last week, but my new account is still on probation (AGAIN!?) so I'm using my kid's account [this is scott aka: shovelhead85, and now trenchcoat85]. I have some post that have been waiting for 4 weeks now for moderator approval. anyhoooo.....

If you read the bottom, I basically say that I'm not sure of the source of your problems, but I doubt a header is gonna solve them. And Jon says fairly clearly in the BMP post that your bike will need the additional parts to use the header.

good luck.

I'm just got my powerbomb in the mail, already have the flanges and whatnot... waiting on my silencer and my ECU to get back from ZipTy and I'll let you know what kinda difference i see. I'm running a completely stock exhaust so I'm pretty stoked to see how much all this stuff wakes it up

Get ready to hold on... it should be a completely different bike.
Have fun!

This is the last thread I wanted to join...

My budd...er EX-buddy wrecked my TE449 ('14 left over). Not bad but the header connected with a boulder and put a good sized dent in the front of my header. I would say it's restricting maybe 10 percent exhaust flow. I don't really notice a significant power decrease but I like my shit clean.

The header is stock and I have a FMF Powercore 4 on it. If I'm getting a new header, I'd like to go ahead and throw the titanium shit on it. So if I get these parts, are you saying I can bolt that NASCAR stuff on my bike pretty easy? I'm good at taking stuff off and putting it back on. If it requires real mechanic work, I may just source another factory header.
