• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Highway Dirt Bikes Handguards + Rox Anti-Vibe Risers

Hey Gang.

There are not a lot of riser options out there for the TR650. There's some stuff that "works" but everything seems to be lacking in some area. Nothing jumped out to me as the "perfect" solution. I the end I went with Rox Anti-Vibe Risers because they had the most adjustability and broke down into the smallest/most pieces.

I don't love the anti-vibe feature but it's not terrible. The bars rock forward/back with acceleration/deceleration and that bugs me a little. but combined with ProTaper Evo bars they take up a lot of small bump chatter for sure.

I wanted to add Highway Dirt Bike handguards for protection and to ditch the stock mirrors. I was worried that I would need a custom top clamp but when I measured up the 106mmX40mm size is a perfect match for the Rox risers. This is huge because HDB is so busy these days that any custom order would take months.

If you're not familiar with Highway Dirt Bikes check them out at www.highwaydirtbikes.com They make a top quality product at a fair price and I found their customer service to be excellent.

Here is what you receive when ordering Ultimate Handguards. I also added mirrors and a slightly more complicated top clamp.

Step #1 is tapping the bars. Tap is included with the purchase.

A good look at how the risers, top clamp, bars, etc all go together.

Top Clamp features two on/off electrical switches. I want to set them up as auxiliary lighting and forced manual "ON" for the radiator fan.

Handguards mount to the bar ends and also to the Front/Side of the top clamp.

I haven't mounted the plastic guards yet. I'm not riding any off-road right now and when it is warm I prefer the wind blowing across my hands. To that end I need some shorter mounting bolts for the mirrors. That is the only part of the install that I don't like.

LOVE having the mirrors down here. Way better visibility and they tuck out of the way in seconds.
