  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

HMF Racing Slip On Exhaust

HUSQVNA

Husqvarna
AA Class
Is anyone familiar with HMF racings products, or tried the slip on exhaust on their bike? Looks like a decent unit with lots of options from SA to colors. Looks like a good way to shave a few pounds of my 09 TE310.

No, but reading the FAQ I found this:

*Nornal average HMF open exhaust is approx 102~104db, adding the Quiet Core Insert will dampen the exhaust sound to approx. 96~98db.

So you'd be just about (or above) the stock output level with the Quiet Core insert. The Arrow slip on the 08 model is only like 5 lbs. I bet the 09 pipe is about the same. Unlikely the HMF is much lighter. In my opinion, save $ money for tires. :)

But if you get one and want to sell your stock pipe, let me know...

Yeah, I tend to agree the stocker on the 09's gonna be hard to improve on in terms of bang for your buck. And lord knows I go through the tires!

Yes, HMF systems are LOUD!

IMO, they are cheesy, cheap systems that are found in most of the cheesy, cheap Quad shops and sold to cheesy, cheap Quad riders with horrible loud Quads.

But, again, that's just my opinion.

Yeah, haven't seen them before, but my first impression was it was an economical way to get an aftermarket slip on that may or may not give you some performance gains. I'll keep it in mind anyway should I trash my stocker. Till then, figure I'll go with what I know.

I loved my HMF pipe on my quad, back when. It gave it so much spunk. Like it much better then my White-Bros system I had before it.

;-)

I like my Leo Vince, i think is the best and nicest way to shave a few pounds of my 09 TE310.
The optic is very nice and the noise is beatyfull and not to loud like's the original Exhaust without all and he is 1,4kg more then heavy like the Leo Vince.

On my TE 510 i like the Doma Exhaust, is a big bike with a big engine and a big exhaust with a dezent nice sound and the original is also 1.2 kg more then heavy like the Doma.

I put the HMF on my 08 sm450r and I like it. Plus the price is right. Also seems to do okay in the HP department. My Husky with a PCIII and the HMF exhaust puts out 51hp on the dyno.

I have the FMF powercore 4, fairly loud but lighter than stock. Cost just under $250 through Parts Unlimited.

I just bought one yesterday ill let everyone know how it is when i get it. I had an hmf full system on my 450 race quad back when and i loved it. They are cheap and a great product nice exhaust note easy to repack and the new ones have the quiet inserts to. I noticed nice gains when i had it on my 4wheeler. Will report back with pics and a review though.

+1 dynoed the HMF comp series vs akropovic vs fmf vs procircuit. Hmf produced more torque and hp on my 540 ktm

just remember dyno dose not always work in the real world but is a good guide.. ie is the bike for the road ......dirt....or both and were you want your power............buy just putting a exhaust on what ever brand and thinking that it will give you endless power well your dreaming...........exhaust is a small piece to the puzzle there are other things to consider as well like .....FI/CARB settings......gearing...... suspension......weight.....noise.....with all these things together will give you what you need

just rember you get what you pay for:lol:

i use a leo vince x3 it works for me

I agree for the most part, some exceptions I've found in the motorcycle world:
Termignoni exhaust, way overpriced even if it does look pretty.
Sorpion helmets, fantastic value for the money and top notch customer support.
Komodo Leathers, real quality for great products.
HMF exhausts, I run one on my 2000 SV650 race bike and routinely beat the crap out of it and it has never failed me. When I broke the strap for it in a lowside last year HMF sent me a new strap for no charge because they no longer make the muffler. That's what I call customer service! Made a believer out of me. And I've never had to repack it either. My HMF went on super easy and the quality is fantastic!
