• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Honda CBX 500 vs the Terra

visegrip

Husqvarna
A Class
Can the Honda be a considered a reasonable alternative to the Terra . The Husky dealers in ontario seem to have become extinct and i am wonderring if its worth going to the states or a different province to get one and then worry about service.

Go to Cameron Cycle in Peterborough. They will have them in the showroom come spring, units are in Canada. These guys are a long established reputable dealer and well worth the ride. The honda will have lest power, suspension and is a Honda. The Honda will be a great bike but not the same thing.

Cheers

i did mean cb500x looks like i am dating myself with a reference to the cbx thank for catching the error.
:) I just did a quick search, no biggie.

I did see that at the MC show I went to, it would be on my short list with the tr650 & one other which I forget at the moment.

I *think* someone told me that bike had 1/2 of a car engine 1L in it? Something like that...

To do what?
To ride where?
First the engine; you're comparing a 500cc Honda vs a 650cc Husky, you should maybe look at the NC700X which is a 670cc for a better match?
Second for what purpose; if you look at the pictures you can see that the Terra is a heavy dual purpose bike where the 500/700X are a light adventure bikes....not the same, you'll be able to go a lot deeper into the bush with the Terra but will be more comfortable if staying on road with the X's
If you're asking about the Strada vs the NC700X then that's a different story...
I haven't seen the Strada but I've seen the NC700X and its a pretty bike, done very smartly

The TR650 can be taken off road for some exploring, those two hondas not so much. Also the Hondas are both twins. The DR650 is more like the Tr650.
