• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Only days to go now before the 'Hot Trod' Twinshock and Evo Enduro weekend!!!

The event is full and we have a distinguished guest riding for www.hva-factory.com team - all the way from the USA.

20% of the bikes are Husky's, with a nice mix of European and Japanese bikes making up the entry.

All being well, I will report back after the weekend...

Well. That was a fantastic weekend of racing! The best UK Vintage Enduro yet and it was warm and sunny too!

Well done to George Pennington (our USA guest for the weekend) who helped to give the event an international flavor, along with Michael Ernst and friends from Germany.

Photos to follow as I get them...

I'm hoping that when I get my new hip replacement - I can do away with the crates****************************************

Did you all notice in the above photo - that the sky was blue and the sun was shining! That was a rare treat for all the riders, spectators and the vinduro crew.

Andy.

Many, many thanks to Andy for inviting me along and being such a generous host! As Andy said, we were blessed with sunshine and warm temps and an awesome course. Everybody was so nice and accommodating, we felt like we made a bunch of new friends! Andy brought two bikes for me, one of his ultra trick 300's and a pretty stock '90 510. I switched off during the weekend and spent time on both. For those that are curious, the 300 ran really sweet! The extra cc's beef up the bottom end where the 250 is fairly vacant, yet it still revs well and pulls hard on top. Andy had the bike jetted perfectly, and encouraged me to abuse the clutch, as he does some mods there also, and it was certainly up to the task. If you were wondering, no it doesn't run like a modern, say KTM 300. It still has no powervalve, so it is handicapped by technology, but, if you are looking to beef up your 250, and aren't looking for an open bike......I think you'd be pretty happy with Andy's mods.

Overall as an event, the club was well organized and laid out a challenging event. Heck, it would have been great on a modern bike. The competition level in the expert class was top notch also, with most of the front runners on very highly modified bikes and lot's of ISDE and SSDT experience. This was not an old mans class. The course was about 12 miles long, experts did six laps. A lot of grassy field stuff, with plenty of buried rocks, narrow bush trails, boggy sections, and a few miles of the nastiest, wettest, ruttiest, root infested forest section you can imagine. There were places where the forest was so thick, there wasn't even sunshine. Really glad it was sunny, can't imagine how difficult that would have been in the rain.

There was also tons of cool bikes on hand. Being from the US, there were a number you just don't see in our neck of the woods, one guy even let me take a spin on his SWM. Anyway, it has been a great trip. My wife and I have been touring Scotland and are now in Holland before having to head back to reality on Mon.

Andy, thanks again!

Nice one Andy
That shape husky is pure motorcycle porn, got to be one of the best looking enduro/MX bikes ever made. The comment about the hip replacement made me chuckle, due to sciatic problems limitimg leg movement I have thought about selling my 430XC (need a stand or high kerb to start the f**k*r) but I hope to try one of you stator kits soon as I can get back to full duties at work and get some overtime in. Have you as the marque expert noticed the easier starting due to the better low speed spark? my 87 250WR is a doddle to start compared to the 88 430.
I would be interested to hear from anyone else that has tried one of Andy's hva/electrex kits?
dirtaddict23 glad you enjoyed your UK trip, I have never met Andy in person but have found it a pleasure to deal with him on the phone for parts and advice.

Why not add a decomp valve, others on here have made mention that it makes the 500's much easier to start.

Thanks adam6402 I followed some of those threads with interest. But by the time I have sorurced a spare head to try this with (I would have farm out the welding/machining so would not want to use what is already good in case of irreversable damage) It would cost as much as much if not more than Andys kit also I believe it offers a better lighting coil.
