    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

How do I clean these Titanium Valves?

I got the head apart and I'm going to replace the one slightly bent valve.
As you can imagine, there is a little carbon on the valves and port area.
The seats look good but I guess could use a scrubbing with a toothbrush or something soft.

I've heard you cannot lap TI valves? Are these x-lite valves Ti or Ti coated?
What is the best way to clean them without damage? Both the stem and valve face?

What about the ports (exhaust) and seats?

I want clean but I don't want damaged valves and seats in order to to get it.

Intake deposits came off with my fingernail after I soaked them in Techtron.

The exhaust valves have the deposits cooked on so they are proving a bit harder.

I have not tried the scotchbrite yet.

I found a lot came off the exhaust port with just a paper towel, but I will need maybe techtron there as well
 
Clean them like you would clean any other valve. Wire wheel will work.

You can, BTW, lap Ti valves, especially if they're going on hard seats. I build cylinder heads. I've always done it, and every race engine builder I know does
 
They seal good as is.

I'm just going to clean the seats with a toothbrush and some simple green and replace the bent valve and if they still seal good I'm going to leave it at that.
