  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

How many miles on ur te 's guys , coming up on 1000 on my 12 te 310 , 95 percent dirt , other miles just getting to the dirt.

I have 1400 miles of riding on my 511 as a supermoto. At 500 miles it got all the fixes. 2nd oil change, rotella t6 synthetic, toxic moto/zip ty crank breather and recirc kit, power commander and a stainless mesh oil filter.

0 Issues but again not really that many miles.

How many miles on ur te 's guys , .....

You didnt list my specific bike, but you DID say TEs", mine's a TE....19,000 miles in 4 years, yeah, lots of pavement miles, but no shortage of off-road action....

Lets don't forget the TXCs and TCs Huskies :)

08 TXC250 - Last count was somewhere around ~1,200 hrs, ~23,000KMs ...Big-end bearing changed at ~950 hrs ... Cam bearing changed also ... yawn ..

010 TC250 (WY \ Rekluse)

010 TC250 (WA)
~250 hrs - has used oil since I got it since the day I purchased it at ~50 hrs - uses more oil today and i have the rings just too lazy to replace them- bike still runs great today, just gotta be careful not to run the oil too low - This bike needed an updated cam for the auto-decompressor saga that plagued so many of these bikes and caused starting issues.

Not sure why 1 bike drinks its oil from < 50 hr mark and the other does not use a drop at ~4x the hours.

These bikes are ridden yr round really, not kept in a garage for extended time periods, are not babied, are not raced alot, and used basically as trail bikes in the providences of Cebu in the Philippines for the last 2-3 yrs. I do not expect to stop riding these bikes anytime this decade and this ~250 hr mark is gonna keep growing upwards I do believe.

Ray_ray, 1200 hrs?!? Do you a generator with it at night?? :D

I have a 2011 TE449, new in 2012. 138 hrs & 3900 km, almost all dirt.
Fresh Castrol Power1 Racing synthetic oil every 5hrs, paper filter every 10 hrs.
Zero mechanical issues. Self tuned factory EFI, self-made relocated engine breather system.

**** Note to owners of the 449 & 511 engined bikes, check your flywheel allen-bolts at anything over 3000km.
Several have fallen out & destroyed the electrical stators. I checked mine after advice at 3800km & found two loose & on their way out!!!
Lots of others who've checked them find the same.****

I had a TrailTech headlight running off the stator on the TXC for the first yr or 2 here ... The driving here is bad enough in daylight and turns into zoo-mode as the sun sets here each and every day ... Add to that my horrible night vision and I just try as much as possible to not ride any after dark now so I removed the light off the TXC to help force me home before dark ... I carry a cheap china-made rechargeable flashlight if I think I'll be out after dark now and just hold it in my hand as I ride to get me home ... It's still a little spooky to me but totally workable and acceptable for this place.

There are maybe a few days a yr a person can't ride a bike here so ~360 days a yr, a person can ride, if you so desire; meaning, you can work a good mule to death here. My riding VIDS are out there to see ... I don't think I baby my bikes too much and just as sure I do not abuse them either. I pick the places I hammer the machine and use the rest of the seat time to rest and look at the view.

Sounds like you are having a good time with your bike ... Did you post any pics of your engine breather system in the cafe yet? :)

3100 km on my TE449.Majority of it is forestry roads but it has had its share of just about every terrain.I have only been riding the bike for six months so I am hoping it makes it through next year.

I have no idea who I could get to rebuild it when it does crap out though. The Canadian dealers I have talked to literally have no friggin idea about these bikes. Most of them have no parts anyways.

2011 Te310, 80% trail usage 4143kms and 119.3 total hours. Rode hard and oil change at around each 10 hour mark. Best bike I ever had!

3100 kms is nothing, your not racing you have along time before you will need a rebuild if your doing the proper services.
