  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

hows your new model te250 holding up /performing ? ?

well, i still havent seen one here on the Aussie trails, plenty of older bikes but certainly no new te/tc/txc250 range ! the dealers dont even have any but will order you one in but want paid first !

so, how are they holding up reliability wise? performance ? livability etc... just general stuff about hrs/maintenance etc, ye know the thing.. !

Mine has only a couple of races on it but it is holding up fine.

Other guys are pounding theirs and they are fine.

you do have to check the water pump impeller when you get it though and the smallish tank can make you run out of gas unless you carry some extra.

about 1200 trail miles on my 2010 TXC250. Been solid other than the temp sensor went bad at about 1000 miles. $12 part. Front motor mounts rattled a little loose once. No other issues. Valves right on.

thats some decent miles there kelly considering its not that old and i bet they are all dirt miles too ! whats with the waterpump impellor and the temp sensor ? these dont have a rad fan do they ??

Some impellers were installed loose at the factory. Kelly's temp sensor was a one-off issue...I-beat caught it.

Yes, they have a radiator fan....but it never goes on....many take it off.

My TE had 2 slightly tight exhaust valves @ 100 mi.

I think Raisrx251 also had a bad temp sensor. I took the fan off my TXC. Rode it in 85 degree F weather last Sunday and intentionally tried to get the fan to start (even let it idle for over 3 minutes after riding).... NEVER started. Yanked it off when I got home. The fan is useless as a submarine with screendoors.

if you live in Cali and ride Dez in those nasty rock gardens where you go 8 miles in 6 hours in 100 degree weather you might need the fan.

yes, Tim had the same temp sensor issue. I have read where a few 08-09 TE's had this issues too.

Yes, 100% dirt miles, single track, 1-3 gear a lot. Been a real solid bike.

I have a TC250 and it's been solid. But then again it only has about 5 hours on it.

What I have seen as an issue on the TE's is that the ''ECU jetting'' if you will, is not perfect and hard to setup. Owners complain about it. They sold a bunch of the TE up here this spring. Other than that they seem reliable.

There is now a reflash available to address this, problem solved now!

i live in Newcastle n.s.w and my 2010 te 250 is the only one i have seen so far. i have only ridden 200km and it's already fitted with leo ecu combo which makes a big difference. i did have a problem with one of the wires melting next to the pipe but it's all fixed. as for power i decided to drag a 2007 exc250f (my brothers bike) with me on the te 250 and i managed to absolutely flog him

haha , if only i had the cash...maybe but not right now ! was told about some damage caused by a head part getting into the bottom end and causing damage so need to read up on that and see whether its an ongoing issue or a freak ..

hay rabs i have had my 2010 te 250 for 8 months now and put 2,400km of single track and flowing single only it has been floged..droped.. fliped..and for the riding i do its great....and yes thay do have a few little problems but easy fix

1..husky efi maping sux only good for open flowing stuff
2..gearing needs to go to a 12/50 combo
3..fuel tank 6.5l and can only use 6.2 because pump in tank 60 to 70 km of hard riding out of a tank thats shit

other than that its a great bike for tight s/t

good luck

cheers troops ! I wasn't sure on it being a short ass but it's slightly lower than my 05 wr and an 03 gasser I tried last week. feels like a mountain bike and pulls brilliantly for a 250 !

been decorked and the owners son had it for enduro racing as far as I knwo but swapped to a 125 yz recently but he used it to follow him on trails apparently. great nick, sounds good and found no bog at all. see how it goes in the dirt soon ! :)

anything I need to check ? hows the suspenders for about 75kg geared up ? (165lbs+/-)

few Questions.....
whats the general fuel range of these things ?
can you get larger casings for more oil capacity ?
do they need a damper ?
service items, how much/where and how often ?

And generally, anything else , let me know ! :)
