• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Husky 2014?

I'm selling my 12 350xcfw to go back to a 2t, I'm thinking I want to give a linkage bike a try this time, which sorta rules out the berg..and the berg is going the way the of the dinosaur soon so resale will be crap.

That really leaves me 2 choices other than beta or converting a jap bike.

I have a hybrid set of forks (kyb sss carts inside wp tubes) that will slip right into any ktm/berg/varna I choose to get.

I was seriously considering beta for the lower seat height, better electric start and less vibes, but the suspension is a bit too foreign to me and I haven't heard "great" things about the sachs forks...although I heard the 14's are a bit better, and retro fitting my hybrid forks could prove to be a chore. I know the "Race" Version comes with nice Marzocchi 48mm forks but that bumps the price up another 1k. I generally buy a new bike every year and the thought of trying to sell the beta scares me...my berg 390 was not easy to sell.

so if I stay with what I know that leaves BERG/HUSKY/KTM and unless I could get a screaming deal on the berg I'll stay away from them as well due to resale and wanting to give linkage a go after 15 years on pds.

I've put a deposit on a 2014 TE 250, but could easily change it to a berg or KTM as they have them all.

I have a couple questions coming from the KTM world

1. How are the 14 husky 4cs forks compared to older models of the 4CS,do they have different valving? I believe the six days version had softer valving than the standard versions that came on the XC's or berg?

2. Are there any tall seats available for the Husky/berg

3. Is The electric start any better than the previous crappy set up from KTM (I think they upgraded the starter motor 13/14?)

4. How luggable is the 250 TE motor on the bottom end? this may be the first bike I'm going to run in a very long time without installing a rekluse auto clutch

I've had many bikes in the past and really like 300's but the vibrations really get to me, that's why I'm thinking 250 this time around...

Thanks for any advice!
