  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky Mikuni VM38 Carb, right or left side idle?

Ron

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi Guys,
I'm trying to buy a 3.0 slide for my VM38 Mikuni on a 79 390CR.
I don't know if it is a "right side" or "left side" idle.
Depending on which end your looking, it can be either one. LOL
So my question, is which do I need?

Thanks for any help, Ron

I'm pretty sure you can't get the slide anymore. The new Mikuni's have the idle screw on the oppisite side from the original. You can cut the slide to a 3.0. Just do it a little at a time and the cuve has to match the origianl. You might luck out and find a good used or NOS slide on Ebay.

When you're sitting on the bike and you look down to the carb', is the idle screw on the right side of the bike or the left ?

Example: Here's my VM38 ('88 250 WR) which has the idle/"tickover" screw on the left, the airbox boot attaches to the right of that screw.

I've just bought a brand new 38mm Mikuni & I asked for specific jetting for under $150, so it might be worth looking into as I couldn't find a new slide any where.

Thanks everyone, I found a new one on Amazon. Left side idle is Mikuni slide #VM38/52-3.0.
