  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky TE450 2009 engine problem?

I have a TE450 2009 with less than 300km and may be 10 hours max and i think im gonna have a major ishue soon. The engine run great on the idle, when i speed up it seems really good too but when i rev the bike pretty high and i drop the gas i can hear a weird sound from the front of the engine, i can't figure where it's from exactely but i'm a little bit worry now. I start to use the bike a few weeks ago but i gought in May 2010 so no waranty anymore. Sombody had a similar problem beafore?

defiantly engine component noise or could it be exhaust leak during engine braking, define weird

It's not the exaust, sounds like a weird squeak from the engine when i drop the trothole, actualy today it was worst, it was everytime when i was going slow and it's bad. I don't know if Husky gonna take the engine on the waranty but if no it's defenetly my first and my last Husky. I like the machine but if i have to put 2000$ for a engine i'll go back with Husaberg or KTM.

Is it kinda a squeak or whistle sounding noise that only happens when you open the throttle quickly? If so it sounds to me like intake noise which is totally normal on these model husky's.

No it's not when i open the throttle, it's when i close it. Ill try with a quiet muffler, it's gonna be easier to hear it. Thanks

Take out your spark arrestor and see if you still have the noise. Mine sounded like a bird chirping when I let off the throttle quickly......

I can tell you that Husky will do something way before KTM or Berg will. Let me know if you find anything.

Pull the spark arrestor insert out of the muffler and see if the noise is still there.

pop the valve cover and do a quick check of your oil separator disc (the thing that is attached to the end of your cam and spins in front of the breather tube exit) while there check you comp release to be sure its all tight. When the mount hole gets out of round from use/vibe etc it makes a rattling or kind of high freq vibe sound. Just a possible.

Modern Huskys make a bunch of weird noises. Mine is the full floating rear rotor and floating spark arrestor in the silencer(too loud). I've been very happy with the reliability of Husqvarna motorcycles in the past 5 years. 09 450te 5200 miles and counting.

Yes guys thanks for all these info!!!

I took a look on everything and it seems ok. I did my oil change and i had nothing on the magnet after 120km so i guess its a good sing. I do my oil change every 10 hours or soo, what about you guys?
I also send an email to my deallership and he told me
Husky has been pretty good about goodwill warranty so im gonna put a Leo Vince pipe and ill see after that if i can hear some weird noise. Now its super hard to say because the bike is way too loud. If something hapen in the next few weeks i guess Husky are gonna pay for redo my engine.

For the rest i really enjoy this bike!!! Still freaking heavy compare to my little 200 but the suspention is freaking awesome and the engine too!!! Thanks for your help guys!!!
