  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky TE450 with motard conversion Kit - front brake tends to lock up - SCARY

Huskytard

Husqvarna
First time posting - I have a 07 TE450 and after moving closer to work I decided to convert it to a supermoto - I found this website

http://home.exetel.com.au/bkm/cast-wheels-motard-drz/husqvarna-te610-te510-te450.htm

It is a great alternative and all the parts fit well.

My general question is, the front brake calliper tends to stay compresses once you pull the front brakes and you can imagine the first time this happened - put it this way I now know how to do a mono on the front wheel.

Is there any quick fix regarding the brakes not releasing. The discs on the new rims are the same size and thicknes so I dont under stand what to do....

Any suggestions would be great

Did you overfill the master cylinder and not allow for fluid expansion? As the brakes heat up the fluid expands and if there's no air space for the extra volume to occupy the expanded fluid applies the brakes.

I did not touch the fluid at all. I removed the off road tyres and disc's and put the road tyres and disc's on... The thickness of the disc and diameter are the same.

I thought the spacers were different for sm and te. You didn't mention spacers with the swap.

my guess is that spacers are off a bit and rotor's position is not centered on caliper. mount original wheels with spacers and take a good look at how rotor is in the caliper.

I agree with a spacer or maybe both being slightly off. Bike looks very nice! What wheels are you using?

can't view that site. really wanting to fit wheels like this to my 04 te but not mucus info around on these.

gross, I hate mucus info.

But yes, I would look at your alignment (centering) of the disc between the caliper. make sure it is centered between the pistons and not offset to one side or the other.
Secondary problems would be air in the lines causing a heat related drag after the air heats/expands during use.
Or dirty pistons that are dragging.

That is pretty much all it could/should be.

Good luck!
