• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

husky xc rim sizes?

i just got an 86 400 xc that has been turned into a 500. I also got a running 87 xc 430 parts bike with it. what stumps me is mounted on the 430 is a 17" back rim. (the tire is beefy) i know what advantages the 18" has over the 19" off road but have never seen a 17". it seems to be original as all the rims are the same on both bikes. does anyone have info on this.

John,
Check the date on the rim, Husky rims are date stamped, i'd bet it's off a 1981 or 82 (updated hub). As far as i know
the 17" wheels where no longer used on the CR & XC models after 1982, WR & Auto's may have still used the them as
those models were usually 1 year behind. Husky claimed the 17" wheel was better then an 18" as it provided a wider
tire foot print & that's why the most late 70's to 82 models had them. See the picture ...remember a 5-82 date would
be found on a 1983 model bike.

big help thanks. it is on the parts bike i got. it has a brand new tire on it so i'm thinking of slappin it on for a day and seeing how I like it. The previous owner of that bike must have swapped the 18 out because it is an 87.
