• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna 73′ CR400 – Carburetor Clean & Jetting Video

Glad you posted this video. Lot of good info with reasons of why you're doing what you're doing. I have a Bing apart on my desk for a '73 450wr, just need to get around to assembling it.

A while ago I had hyper extended my left ankle kicking a 98 Husaberg 501, hurt for over a year. My ankle was hurting watching you kick that bike with sneakers.

That 400 is a cr? Does it have a headlight? It looked like a light was reflecting off the back of that Toyota you followed.

Thanks!

I did hurt my ankle starting this bike. My MX boots were at a buddies house so I did not have a choice.

This bike does have a headlight. I installed a MZB ign with lighting coil & Baja Designs headlight/taillight.

I also have a video of the MZB & light kit install:

I am planning on an MZB for my 450wr. Let me ask, how much does the light dim at idle or low rpms? My 87 430 headlight gets to about the brightness of 1 candle at idle. It doesn't get bright untill the engine is revved more than half way up the range.
Do you have a part number on that headlight?
That 400 looks awesome. My bike will end up much the same. One other thing I like is a set of tall and narrow flexx bars.
A friend of mine used to live in Oak Lawn, IL and that is the first thing I thought of when seeing the neighborhood where you were riding. Where are you located?

NICE 450, Matthew! It gives me a little motivation. Mine's got a long way to go, but here she is after the initial $150 investment:

At the end of the video, I fire it up and point the headlight at the garage door. Keep in mind it is the interior of the garage and the door has been painted with gloss white, so it does reflect quite a bit. My camera does not work well at night. It is bright at idle with a little "flicker" due to the way these idle. Once you add a bit of throttle, it is super bright!

Fast fwd to 9min.

Here is a link to the baja headlight:

The headlight bulb is a 55w, while the MZB puts out 80-100w. Baja said I can probably run higher wattage. The other option I had was to run LED headlight & taillight, with a stock re-wired lighting coil, which would put out ~40W. There is a guy named Vance Smith that can provide this service. Since I did not have the headlight shell, I choose to go this route.

I'm about 35mi north of oak lawn, il.
