  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

HVA Andy Elliot - Factory Hip Replacement

AA Class
Hi Folks

I thought I would drop a note on here to wish Andy Elliot a speedy recovery after having his hip replaced this week. Those of you who know Andy has been waiting to have this operation done for sometime as years of racing and kicking the left kickers has taken it toll…

I spoke to Andy yesterday and he is "sore" but in very good spirits and will soon be climbing the walls as he will not be able to ride for sometime and is confined to mainly loafing about the house for now ;-)

All the best Andy and get well soon - on a personal note a massive thanks for all your support for my 2013 season and preparation for 2014 season by getting the HVA Factory Special 300 motor built as well as my "spare" 430 motors before your operation :-)

Cheers

Stuart

Hi guys - I'm out of hospital****************************************

Thanks to all those who have been in contact - I will get through my 'work' emails just as soon as I can. Apologies to anyone who has ordered on-line for any delay. We will catch up as fast as we can. Friends are helping to process some of the orders, but I like to check everything myself before dispatch - to try and prevent any mistakes! (not that I am infallable).

The Op. went well but it will be a while before I am sprinting up the stairs! The Hospital staff were terrific and it has been quite a humbleing experience...

Andy Elliott.

Don't give us all that bollocks mate….what is the right engine number for an 82 silver streak…????…...:)

Hope it went well...

Steve

Here's hoping you have a speedy recovery, Andy. Major surgery is major stuff, but most times the payoff is well worth it. Don't let it slow you down!

Get well soon Andy thanks. Thanks for all the advice

2094 is an original engine casing for a Streak or 83 CR500, 83 XC500 and an 84 XC250

Thanks Guys. It is nice to have something (bike related) to distract me and stop me from wallowing in self-pity!!!

Maybe this is the excuse I need to get fit after all these years....

Have you moved those engines from in front of your TV yet Stuart - or does the wife also enjoy Husky 'Art'?

Andy.

Thanks Andy!

I have moved the factory 300 to the workshop as I and starting the build and she should be running by the weekend - the 2 430's are still in place… just worried that Ros might decorate them with tinsel if I don't get them out before Christmas ;-)

Hang in there Andy.....a friend of mine had it done last year, and although she was off the bike for most of a year, she's back to 100% and lovin it!!!

Thanks.

It is feeling better with every day that goes by (10 days since op). I even got some reasonable sleep last night!

The wife is only letting me spend 3 hours a day at work though and I am on 'light dutys' (packing and shipping) plus catching up with email...

Andy.

Just caught this thread, we got 5 hips in the family so guessing I'll get one some time too. Still, I do like a bit of titanium. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
