• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I am Holidaying in San Diego in August, and the wife says that I may have a day or two to spend enjoying Motorcycle based recreation (well - I will be 50 whilst I am there). Where do you suggest I go and who should I visit?

John Le Fevre at Vintage Husky is near San Diego. Malcolm Smiths shop in Riverside is great as is Tom Whites museum. Both later are north of San Diego towards LA but an easy drive. Have fun in SD!

I visited San Diego once (maybe twice) in my past professional life, and that was a long long long time ago (I'm still a professional of some sort, but way different than then). I remember little, other than that historic hotel on the warf...the one that's just waiting to burn down some day with all the wood it's made of. Mind you, this was many moons ago and age has definitely caught up with me once I finally (and luckily) hit 6 decades....but I refuse to let it slow me down!

If you're not into sight seeing and want to talk Husky, definitely hit up the dudes already mentioned.

Come on guys ... What he is really asking for is that some one invites him to go riding ... (motorcycle based recreation) don't that give it away? If you make it down to the south east we go , don't have to many great riding places here anymore but we can find one. P.S. hope you deal with crowded places well...

In San Diego proper, you can and should take a minute to visit Sonny Angel (pioneer IOM rider ) Motorcycles and Rob North(yes that guy) fabrications for some Anglo related moto history. All the above listed are great but not in SD proper. As for riding we can scrounge up something for you, including some gear, boots maybe an issue, PM size of all gear so we can have a gear collection taken, plenty of time for planning.

Be sure to visit Ron Bishop in Escondido,(about 30 miles north of San Diego proper). He is a looong time Husky dealer and even though he is now in his 70's he is still in his shop,(Ron Bishop Motorcycles) 5 days each week. Up until a few years ago he was the only man to have raced every Baja 1000 since the first one back in the 1960's on a motorcycle, and many of those race bikes were Huskys. It's worth the trip just to look around his shop and check out all of his Baja memorobilia.

If you feel daring, you can ride with Ty Davis. He gives tours of the local mountains and Mojave desert. Does your hotel have a hot tub? You'll need it.

This all sounds ace!

Yes, it would be great to go for a ride - preferably on a t/s Husky...

Size 56 Helmet, 36'' Jeans and US10 Boots - and some armour would be good.

I have been granted a one day riding pass from the 'boss' and maybe a day or two to visit some Legends!

All of the above mentioned sound great fun.

Andy.
