  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I also took the plunge, new TE449

trying to get my posts posted :/
I just picked up one of the last New TE449's out on the market. I have been lurking on the site for just a little over a year going back and forth. I knew exactly what I was getting into when I bought it and I am looking forward to wrenching on it and tweaking it to my liking. I took it out for my first ride yesterday. Took it easy put about 40 miles on her. Other then the noticable lack of power I didn't have any issues with flameouts or anything like that. I will be sending off to Zipty for springs, valving and remap to start. Do I need a aftermarket exhaust to run 3rd set of maps A&B? Will it void my warranty if I load them?

Thanks in advance,

-Djay

Great bikes. Sort a few things out and ride. Remap and pipe takes it from nice and docile to rocket ship. At least it did mine.

You do not need an aftermarket pipe to run Map3. In fact adding an FMF or similar will likely require adding a JD or PowerCommander fueler. If you take it to the dealer with those maps loaded, it will likely void the warranty, but not getting spit over the bars or dumped on a nasty hill may make that less of an issue for you. :D
