As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
I will say the weight of the Gasser SCARES ME. 245 dry with no gas or electric start! YIKES
Somewheres on the net I read the NON ES model was 245 with no fuel! A 2 stroke should NOT weigh as much as a 4 stroke!! I'm scared as I was a little spoiled with the weight of my Husky 150, guess I will have to train harder. Hoping the engine makes up for it, and I am so STOKED!! The things are a work of art!!! Thanks so much! I know I will get some Husky backlash.............Congratulations! You're going to love it! The weight was a big issue with me at first as well, but I've picked it up a couple of times now and its not so bad. Just more incentive to keep the rubber side down. haha. Are you sure its 245 dry? I was thinking the claimed dry weight was 225ish (yeah right) and the actual weight ready to ride was more like 245. Mine (with e-start) feels about the same as my husband's TXC 450...maybe a hair lighter.
That makes me feel good, but what year is your bike and what do you say the 2 weigh?????????????? I'm curious.. Thanks****************************************My 250 estart with a Shorai weighs the same as my wr300 and rides like it is alot lighter
I will have to try that! I bought the Non E start model just for the weight savings and they come with a plasic skid plate. Rode the bike today. I LIKE IT!!! Does not feel that heavy at all!!Some Fletch engineering and thought process and you will find some weight loss for not alot of cash (composite/plastic skid plate, flag type hand guards, light battery or strip the estart). But for alot of cash per ounce there is always ..... http://store.mettec.com/category/List_Of_Stocked_Titanium_Fasteners
cool bike Viva Espana!!!
I saved enough on the 12 to justify buying that instead of a 13! Was breaking it in today. WOW WOW WOW simply put holy SHI______T Need a lot more time to decide things, but had a 05 and a 11 6 day to and must say the new 12 and up feels GOOD and I mean good. Great power and SMOOTH!! High quality parts all over, attention to detail is great and I jumped on it and felt right at home!!! 6-speed, Hydro clutch, 2.9 gall tank stock, was down at Halls and even though the 12 and 13 Gassers are taller then the earlier ones, I sat on a couple new Husky 2-strokes (Wife said get off it!!!) The Husky for sure felt 2 inches taller!! I will ride the Gasser for next year with pride but I will say, I checked out that new Husky 650 (BMW based) and seems like it would make a good do it all bike!!! $6,999 does not seem bad!!! Kind of tapped now. But that may be my next bike!! May be heavy but does not feel like it!!! Gonna try to ride some singletrack next weekend if weather permits. Engine is fast and smooth and much more controlable then the WR 300 Husky Iv'e ridden in the past. Jetted a bit fat right now. DEVIL BIKE RULES FOR NOW!! And I forgot to say, man that thing is good looking!!! Dam Devil Bike****************************************!Congrats! So did you get the 12 or 13? They are great bikes that handle like a dream. Sad to say but unlike Husky (2-strokes anyway) GasGas has been making a good bike better and better. I let a good friend ride my 2010 GG 300 and he had to have it; been regretting it ever since. You won't have any regrets riding the devil.
PICS****************************************!!Ok I'm stoked I just bought a new Gas Gas 300 ! I will keep my Husqvarna socks and may even ride it with my Husky Progrip gear! But for the next race season I must be a trader of sorts, however I must assure you I would still get a Husqvarna tattoo and not a Gas Gas tattoo. There are many reasons for this jump and it would take pages to go into detail. If Husky has a new 2 stroke next year I will be there on it with pride. I nicknamed the Gasser a devil bike awhile back because they are soooo sexy and you know you shoudn't but sometimes can't help yourself. Hence the Devil bike nickname. Next spring I will post some info on the goods and the bads of the Gasser. Picking it up late next week. Just needed a change I guess!!
If weather permits, I will go to Hunterville MN this weekend (pretty fun singletrack! Lots of whoops and real sandy! And get some pics up! This dam bike looks way nicer in person then in pics!! But I will try to get some!! Beware of their (EVIL DEVIL BIKE KICKSTAND!!!) In 05 I bought a new 200 Gasser and brought it into my new house (this is very comman as a lot of times I buy a bike in the crate and a 12 pack of beer and bring it in the house and put it together and drool) kind of like a little kid at Christmas time! Well needless to say I barely touched the darn thing and bingo! Tipped right over and the footpeg put a huge gouge in my new house floor!! Wife was Piss__ off bad!! Hope it is 40 degrees I will go riding! Wondering WTF I took the whole year off!PICS !!
Funny Gas Gas claims the 12 and up frame is 4.4 pounds lighter then the previous, but I think the new one weighs more then the 11 ans prior. Built nice but can see that it is street legal in Europe. Key with locking headset and other stuff. A lot of fasteners that could be changed.2011 ec250, 09 wr 300 255 lb's ready to ride
