    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I think I broke my fuel tank

So, I was fueling up my TR650 today using those wonderful (sarcasm) California gas pump fillers. These are the ones that require you to push down to provide a seal against the gas tank so vapor doesn't escape into the air. A real pain.

Anyway, I pressed down like I always do and the I hear a "plop" and no resistance. It appears that the red fuel tank tube popped off and went into the gas tank.

Has anyone experienced this? If so, how'd you get it back out? Also, is that tube really needed?

I removed the red funnel thingamajig for easier filling. You don't really need it. You just need to pay a bit more attention that you don't overfill. Leave about 2cm to the filler hole, anything over that will just come out the overflow tube.

Getting your funnel out could need a bit of fishing, or if that doesn't work, take out the fuel pump and see if you can get at it from the bottom.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured it was an "optional" piece of equipment.

I'll be careful not to overfill, too!
 
I always use a finger to make the pump run. There is a switch in the pump nozzle to ensure there's a "seal". I just grab it at the tip of the snorkel with the index finger of the hand not squeezing the handle and pull it up until the gas flows. Takes a little practice, but once you get used to it it's easy and ensures a proper fill up each time.
